What even is this.

Anyone wanna shed some light on what part is this could? I was sent this video a month after getting my motor mounts replaced and the mechanic that replaced them didn't know what this was either, all I know is it does indeed do something maybe important.

It's "just" a structural brace from the cross-member to the frame. A general description of what it is designed to do is to improve steering stability, increase chassis rigidity, and improve overall handling capabilities.

Any idea based off the video I included how to fix this? It looks like it's rusted off or something. I have no idea how that could of happened but if there's a part number you could provide I'd very much appreciate it.

Looks like it could be welded back together. It also looks like it has scrapes on it like you ran over something or bottomed it out.

I don't have a part number, but you could probably send the video to a local Mercedes parts Department and they could find it.

This is part of the subframe. Couldn't find the OE part #, but FWIW, here's an aftermarket one in case you want to consider an upgrade. You also seem to be missing the X brace shown in the picture. The white one is the aftermarket replacement for your broken part, but the X brace in front of it is not. Haven't been under my car to see if this is standard or another aftermarket part.

Great.... more things I'm discovering from this dumpster fire of a car that I've bought. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a lot of my problems with handling / stability were because of this missing component. I appreciate the looking out.

Update, I did infact find all the part numbers for each brace as-well as the X-Brace part number. If anyone was interested in the numbers I'll list them here.

X-Brace: 205-520-1200
Driver Side Brace: 205-524-2500
Passenger Side Brace: 205-524-2600

And here's the diagram. Part 410 and I think 400 represents both the left and right strut. So the X brace is supposed to be there. Somebody went to town on this car and removed/broke a bunch of stuff. So yeah, not surprising that it drives like crap.

Yeah really does explain the experience I'm having. Put an order in for the OEM parts as soon as I was told the part numbers. The video I included in the post is from when the suspension shop replaced my suspension and motor mounts so they might have removed the Xbrace to do something? Something I don't understand is that there might be more items missing / broken but I have no idea what I'm looking for when under the car that's specific to this car. There are a couple of holes near the brace that's broken in the video and I'm wondering if there's supposed to be something else there?
