C43 wagon demo

I’m new to this forum but was hoping someone could help me. I think I’m going to put an offer in on c43 wagon. It is a demo car and has less than 5k in the odometer. It is literally loaded to the gills wit Options so is not cheap. what do you think a good discount should be on a car like this? Also it was registered Feb 2019 so I’ve already lost about 8 months of warranty. Thanks for your help.

first of all, dealer should not be asking you to pay for freight & pdi, thus saving you $2700 right there.

If I am to make an offer, I would take the msrp x 85% (as the minimum 15% discount) = offering price + dealer admin fee + 0 bogus fees/charges = total + taxes.

Don't forget the vehicle is already 1 year old and the typical depreciation rate for 1st year car falls in the 20% range.

wow that’s a hit discount. The guy I was taking to said he could not even give me 10k off and that’s including the freight discount.

then forget it. Tell him to keep the 1 yr old used car. They should "rope off" the car in their showroom and have a sign saying "Do not touch" LOL.

You should check in again next month or in December to see if the car is still unsold. If unsold, you should laugh at this SA's face.

besides, buying new, I would be looking at a min. 10% discount off anyway but do have to pay freight/pdi. At least the car is new and never been driven with full 4 yrs warranty.

Just to add a bit of perspective. My sister bought a 2019 GLC43 this August and she got 9.5% (grand total discount) off the MSRP (around $73,500). Given it is the same platform and engine, that's why I am suggesting the 15% off for the used car and 10% off for being new.

Thanks for your input. I guess I need to be tougher when it comes to negotiations. The car is speced out to about 78K so ideally, I should be looking at about at least an 11k discount. It seems like a lot but i"m not in a rush. Perhaps I'll wait them out a little. The salesperson did say they weren't seeling very fast since it is a niche car.

typical answer from the SA. They are treating the car as if it is a AMG GTR

Do note the car will simply keep on depreciating at the rate of around $800 a month easily.

just a fact sheet. no discount shown anywhere.

If you want to put in an offer for this 5,000km used car and you have lost 9 months of factory warranty ...

$77,090 *85% = $65,500 +$495 dealer admin fee + $100 ac tax + $30 tire levy = $66,125 + taxes = $74,720 OTR. This is pretty well I would pay regardless of what dealer thinks and says back to you. If they don't like it, please move on and consider other car or even dealer altogether. MB Oakville used to be competitive in gaining customers businesses just a few years ago, I am not sure why they are like this anymore. It does show what they are asking is in the arrogant side and to me, that would definitely turn me off from even negotiating with them furthermore.

- Tell dealer you don't want their overpriced winter tires of $2500. That's a real joke
- Tell dealer you have no way in paying this tricor vin etching admin fee. OMVIC considers this as upsell in which dealer cannot force you to pay or buy. This is an infraction of dealer's selling practices and you can file an official complaint to OMVIC.

Thanks for all your help. I just got an email from my SA. He offered me 6K off. I texted him back saying that I don’t feel that’s a good enough discount. Will walk if needed. I ruaj for me to buy. Will let them set on the car for another few months.

Really appreciate all your advise. I think I’d be willing to maybe to 10K off with no winters.

the problem with $6K off. He is still going to charge you the freight/pdi which would be nearly $3000. Don't forget, if you are buying this from a corporate store, there is no freight/pdi to begin with at all. What Oakville is offering is a used car and then throw in the factory credit and they give nothing to you on their side of discount and hoping you will bite.

The ad does not say whether it is a demo or new. I did see a big discount on the ad though.

Congrats.

Yes. It's in the colour I like better and they offered a way bigger discount. It has 3K more on the odometer but for the amount I saved it was well worth it!!

I got just over $16k off. They want way too much for the car in Oakville. If you want it I would continue to hold off. They are not going to get that much for that car. Also the car is getting close to 1 year old. It was plated Feb 2019.
