3 Cigars...

Busy weekend here! I had a wedding on Saturday and I was best man so I was in charge of the cigars I personally ended up enjoying 2 San Lotano's before the wedding and while at the wedding the bridal party all sat outside during cocktail hour I ended up enjoying a Cohiba Black. For the wedding party I ended up bringing; Cohiba Corona's, Padron 1926#9, Cohiba Black, Romeo Y Julieta's, Don Diego, Some cigar called a mi amor de cuba and I think the last one was a Ashton. A beautiful breathtaking wedding and mass it was that made for a great Saturday.

^^^ JR, nice round of cigars.. damn.. I can't wait until 91 (much less an 81) is a bad round for me!

George.. looks good bro.. looks like a very nice time and good smokes.. I like that last picture.. "best man" .. been there done that a few times... very cool.

Tonight as I watched my SD Chargers lose, I enjoyed the following smoke.. so good and smooth.. the last 1/3 killed me though.. I may have been power smoking it though.

As always have a good week guys!

It was a great time indeed! This was my first time doing the "best man" thing. I have not been able to enjoy any cigars since that wedding due to being so piled up on work and all here. Hopefully this weekend. I went to sit and grab a Opus X 77 Shark(My last Opus X I have) yesterday and just as I was going to enjoy it I ended up getting a phone call that a family member needed to be rushed to the ER. God's willing everything turns out good for her.

George, I feel for ya, man! I've done the, "Best Man thing" about 7 or 8 times?! I hope things go well for your family member as well.

JR, I'm digging the habanos! I've got a Partagas Serie D and Cohiba #4 in the humi just waiting for the 'right time'. Speaking of right time, I nubbed a 5 Vegas 'Triple-A' yesterday. No pics yet, but I'll take some shortly.

That 5 Vegas is a full-bodied powerhouse! I made the (pleasant) mistake of enjoying the remainder this morning, on an empty stomach and just a cup of coffee. Another great blend from AJ Fernandez (yes, the same guy who does 'San Lotano'!), but not for the faint of heart.

Let's have a great week, fellas!

The best man thing is very fun no lie. Seems like everyone here is an expert on it. 7-8 times is too many for me.

What's up fellas? Got a great start to the weekend when these showed up:

Had one last week which I said I nubbed. Well, here's what it looked like when I started and when I finished:

And a replacement bracelet came in for an old watch I had lying around. I don't know why I'm getting such a kick out of wearing a watch that hasn't been worn in a number of years, at least not on a regular basis.

The weekend ended on a high note when I picked this up at the local gun show:

Now, if only the Giants will lose tonight in the NLCS, this will be a good start to the work week!

Must be nice to go to a gun show and take a firearm home.. those days are a distant memory for us here in so. cal. We used to have some great gun shows.. now Phoenix or Vegas is the closest decent show.. crazy times.

Have a good week!

Bill, the 5-Vegas Triple A's are blended by AJ Fernandez. As far as I know, that is the only 5-Vegas that he blends for them. It is a full-bodied powerhouse. I'd say it's got more kick then his San Lotano and Diesel blends.

That Seiko Monster was cobbled together from a Black and an Orange Monster, I had both but sold the black face/orange chapter-ring many years ago (don't ask me why). I've since gotten into larger-diameter watches (46mm+), but had this one lying around with a torn Z-20 strap for the past 6 or 7 years. Finally got a hair up my *** to get a bracelet for it, since that's the way I prefer my watches.

I cannot tell you how cool it is to walk into a store or gun show, pick up and handle a prospective firearm and simply walk out with your purchase after passing the cursory background check. Growing up and living most of my entire adult life in Los Angeles and being something of a gun nut, doesn't prepare you for how awesome it is outside of Cali!

@ lisa, wtf?

JRock, I have some beater watches like that too... I do a ton of outdoor activities and usually throw on a seiko or citizen for that... just picked up another dive watch (Citizen ecozilla).. I probably have 12-15 dive watches.. I like them with rubber or zulu straps.. I also picked up another Panerai and will be delivered tomorrow... I'm totally stoked about that purchase..
In regards to buying and carrying out firearms, I lived in the mid-west for 2.5 years and all my local friends would do the same thing.. Still can't beat Cali for weather, beach, women and nightlife though.. I like FL too though.. always have a good time there but the humidity kills me!

Report back after you put some rounds through it!

I'll pick up a Vegas 5 "A" next time I see one available.. can't wait.

Bill

That's a very good cigar. They started carrying them at the local Total Wine here in Orange County and I picked some up. Smokes just like you described

Bill, I had an Ecozilla as well (love that lume!) but also sold it (again, don't ask me why?! ). This was several years ago, now I've got several watches that make the 'zilla look 'small' .

I'm looking to get either a Pan or Omega shortly. I kinda hate the fact that Pan's are somewhat "trendy" these past few years because they really are great watches.

I plan on shooting the .45 real soon. I've only got about 100 rds of ammo and prices on .45 have gone thru the roof! I was looking at picking up a Kimber or Sig 1911 when this little puppy popped up. Lot of features for the money, but I'll have to see if it shoots worth a damn.

John

Shoot me a PM with your address, you too, George.

Yeah I've always loved Pam's.. I just sold an Omega Planet Ocean 45.5 xl.. Super nice watch, just wasn't getting enough wrist time.. I think I'll get more wrist time out of the Pam.
They are kinda trendy but if I thought that way I wouldn't have a Rolex or Omega either I guess.. I just like them.

I've shot my bud's Kimber .45 several/many times and I Love that gun. I'm looking to pick up a .45 here soon also.. looking for a concealable sized (compact) Glock or Springfield XD most likely.. I forgot I need to shoot JR a PM on that actually.

PM sent

I just picked up a XDS .45...really an accurate gun out of the box. Kick isn't bad either...so it's accurate and has stopping power which is a great combo.

Here is what I have to choose from as far as concealed carry...not shown is my Glock 33 (.357 sig)...which I left in my office. The P238 is mainly my backup gun which I holster on my ankle.

The XDS .45, M&P 40, XD9, and P238

The XDS, M&P 40, and P238

.45/.40/.380

Jon, it never occurred to ask, but are you LE or private security/security contractor? Just curious. Besides your great taste in smokes, you've got great taste in guns! At the show, I also had the opportunity to handle the new XDS for the first time. Serious contender for my CCW choice.

Bill, it's a shame you sold that 45.5 PO, that's the watch that's on my radar. Haven't shot any Kimber's yet, but have worked the action and dry-fired a bunch. They seem to be nice pistols. I'm looking at one of their lightweight, Officer's size for concealed carry. Definitely ONE thing I love moving out of Cali is the ability to legally carry.

JR, how do you compare the Glock 30 to the XD 45 compact? I've shot both and I'm torn but leaning to the XD.... Any input is appreciated. I love the .357sig as you suggested I look at a while back but the price of ammo is crazy.. Thanks for posting that above!

JRock... brotha, I wish I knew.. would love to have offered you my PO.. it was perfect!
I love that watch cause you can dress it up or down.. always looked good.

Replaced with this..

both nice watches.

Bill, that's what I'm talking about! Love the new Pan, what size case is it? Did you pick it up from an AD or one of the many watch forums?

AMGf, thanks for posting that side-by-side shot of those 3-guns, gives the end user a real idea of how they compare, size-wise. That XDS is real slim! Great for CCW.

^^ JRock, the Pam is a 44mm.. thanks.

Regarding the XDS, that's why Im leaning that way.. super slim, great to conceal but I don't think I can go wrong with either the glock 30 or XD compact. Of course I have to get my CCW first... not easy over here but possible!
