Any smokers?

Moving this thread along a little bit, out of curiosity, what are your smoking backgrounds and when did you all discover the pass time?
Even in College I never tried a cigarette, pot or anything like that. I tried my first cigar at the age of 18 when at a friends house for his 18th birthday. His father is a huge cigar smoker so in his garage next to his Z06 and Viper sits a Cigar humidor. My first cigar he gave me was a Philly Blunt Strawberry Cigar. It was a cheap $3.00 stick but to be honest it pretty good. Then after I had a Acid Blondie that was awful! From there I did my research on cigars and went to events to educate myself before buying my first humidor. Now many years later I own 3 humidors all near full with everything from those low end Philly's to the high end Opus X and Padron's
I smoke cigars on weekends only during the year except for summer time when I am golfing, boating, working in the garage or family get togeather. I love puffing a good cigar. My "regular" smokes are Padron 2000's/3000's/5000's Maduro San Lotano Maduro, Romero's, Arturo Fuente and Don Diego's.
I did read about the Opus X - definitely a pinnacle of luxury cigars. Honestly, light cigar smoking like that I personally doubt has any significant negative impact on your health. It's an art in itself from what I know about it, just like collecting fine wines which my father is really into. An entirely different world of both budget and expensive enjoyment

I keep it to weekends mostly as I said before that way it does not become boring. If you have steak and cigars everyday it wont taste as good. Life the high life on weekends and it only keeps getting better1 Romeo 1875
1 Liga Privada #9
1 Opus X Lost City
1 Don Diego
1 Padron 3000 Maduro
3 San Lotano Maduro's
1 Cohiba Black
Of course there not all for me
If I've never had a specific brand/model before, I'll buy them at the cigar shop. Paying retail sucks, but it's cheaper than buying a box of cigars you'll end up hating. I will smoke the same cigar two different times before springing for a box. I live comfortably, but I'm also quite frugal.
That being said, my faves are as follows:
- Oliva (G, V, and V Melanio)
- Flor De Las Antillas
- Tabak Especial
- Alec Bradley (Tempus, Prensado in that order)
- Padron Series 5000 Maduro
- Gurkha Cellar Reserve
- Cusano 18

I tried it again a year later, with a milder smoke. Enjoyed it. Quickly discovered that they calmed me down a bit, and it was better than liquor because I could drive after the fact. I was on-again/off-again with 'em for a while, but after I turned 25 I started smoking 1-2 a week. Been doing that ever since.
I have a few extras I need to add to this thread, I simply have been lazy with the updates.

I started really smoking cigars about 12yrs ago after a wedding I attended...before then is was once in awhile affair. It was a mild non-cuban Montecristo and it was with a bunch of old college mates. Whether it was the company or the cigar, it was a fantastic experience. I started smoking on the golf course and at dinner with buddies...never stopped.
One thing though is that smoking cigar and smoking a cigarette is night and day. The tobacco in a cigar is tobacco...I can't say the same thing about cigarettes. I can't stand the smell of cigarettes but love the smell of a good cigar.
It relaxes me, too. It helps me on the golf course because it helps me slow my roll...which can only help my swing.
Cigars are great thing to do in a company of your buddies...some of the best times I've had were around a poker table...smoking cigars and drinking scotch. The level of BS increases exponentially but that is part of the fun.
The best advice I can give to you is to start out slow and mild. Try various cigars and pick the one that YOUR palate (everyone is different) likes...once you get used to milder cigars and your tolerance increases...move to the next level.
Read up on cigar etiquette and it's history...how its made and the brands that have endured. Ask questions...these guys are great and laid back...a lot of other forums dedicated to cigars are really tough on newbies and I think their OG crew sometimes makes it their God given right to bust your ***** every chance they get. Not all but I've seen it too many times...
Enjoy and welcome.

Also, until the 21st they are offering five CCL's plus five CAO Moontrance Robustos for the same price as just the five CCL's by themselves.

The Moontrance isn't one I'd smoke on a regular basis, but it's always good to have a few tasty cheap ones on hand for the friends with less discerning palettes when they want to smoke with you

You are my new favorite person who I love! Thank you for the link and I just placed a order for a couple of 5 packs and I even did some Padron and Opus X's too!!! Thank you so much for the link

, new friends and some pretty ladies too
I also think I am taking after Jon...I ended up putting in a humidor in my office at my warehouse so I have a cigar humidor at work now

The "Reserve" seems to be a bit more mellow... at least to me. I've smoked three different 1875's at this point -- one from Cuba (amazing), a normal red label 1875 (meh), and the 1875 Reserve (good & smooth). The Reserve was a cigar I smoked to the knuckles. Box worthy? IDK... but a darn good smoke for $6. I consider it a dead-ringer for the Cusano 18 on the flavor/draw. My local shop has a box of the 1875 Reserve in a churchill size for $8... I'll be picking a couple of them up now.
Padron Family Reserve 46 Year

2006 Opus X Chateau Reserve
I picked up a Warlock and La Flor Dominca Airbender since I've never tried either. The Warlock gets my vote for best cigar with the worst name. Absolutely a wonderful smoke and certainly well worth the measly $7. I'm bummed I dropped it into a puddle rushing into the local gun show. Would definitely buy another just to reaffirm my 30-minute taste test.
And speaking of Cigars International, I took a chance and fell for the marketing campaign of those Genesis by Ramon Bueso cigars. Again, another great smoke and definitely, "box worthy".
I have pics to post but no data transfer cable yet so you guys will have to wait. Until then, keep puffin'....
I'll admit, I like the idea of the limited-availability, which is what drew me to the Warlock brand as well. That and the Warlock was highly-rated on some cigar website I frequent. Cheap, too (at least by the box).
I highly recommend both brands.
