My toys

I'm going to dig through some of my other pictures, because I put 19" wheels on the CL600. I think it fills the wheel well much better, but that's IMHO.

Not too hard to choose

The CL600 is my daily driver. It goes fast. It handles pretty well (still not a BMW, but I'm not going through the twisties), looks damn good, and there's nothing like those massaging seats for relaxation.

The Porsche is my weekend steed (along with the bikes).

The Z8, which is the most fun, is a pretty rare car, so it's more or less a garage queen.

Actually, they are all lots of fun. And they all could be daily drivers.

A6 & M5

I actually live in three locations, two of which I only visit for a couple days each month. I have the A6 in the upper midwest. I drive that one very rarely, but it carries kids around. I'm not a big Audi fan, BUT, it is a very cost-effective purchase, plus it pushes a lot of HP for a boring sedan.

The M5 is in another location, it also hauls kids around. This car WILL get me a ticket someday. I don't keep pictures of those two around.

But here's a picture of my Hogs

Wink Too many questions....LOL

No one should want to be me! You should see me when the stock market drops, which it does regularly these days.

At any rate, what do I do? I turned around a small publicly traded company, and I was compensated in tons of equity. The stock price has increased from pennies up to it's pre-9/11 high in the 40's. It's settle back down to the 20's, but then again, I own over 750,000 shares of stock.

I am a profound capitalist. I believe that hard work, brains, charisma, and fast thinking are the best things in the world. I don't believe in luck (that's for Lotto players). I don't believe in inheritance (my parents would not have left me enough money to play around like I do).

I went to college, a perfectly normal western state university. I went to graduate school, a perfectly normal eastern private university (which you might be able to guess based on my name on here). I started as a sales representative for a drug company earning $17,600 per year (and, at the time, 1983, I thought was more money than I'd ever need). I moved my way up the corporate latter. I've been fired. I've been promoted. I've taken lateral moves. I've worked in Europe. I've worked in Asia. I've had the worst bosses in the world. I've had the best mentors.

Nothing I did was luck. I worked hard, and made situations fall in my favor. I didn't wait with my hand out for someone to slap some cash in it.

And to digress, whoever posted that the BMW would be last on your list...grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I actually rank my cars as: 1. Porsche 996tt. 2. M5 3. Z8. 4. CL600. 5. A6. The CL would move much higher with either a real F1 type of transmission or a 6speed manual. I do not like automatics.

So there. Thanks for the comments however. I do enjoy my cars!

Orangemarlin, congrats on your achivements, like you said it takes hard work, not just sitting around, which motivates me to get up from this computer and look for a job!

I ranked your BMW last for the looks, that is just my personal taste, most people would put Porsche first but not me. Also I ranked the ones on the picture that started this thread.

Thumbs down Boats...blech, yuck, ptooey

top 10 reasons I hate boats:

10. Everyone asks me to chum because I throw up so quickly
9. 400 HP in a boats gets you to about 50 mph
8. There are no sharks circling your Porsche looking to snack on you
7. boats get wet
6. Boats can't be parked at my favorite eatery
5. I hate those dorky hats worn by members of the local yacht club
4. El nino storms destroy boats.
3. Hot babes don't chase guys with boats
2. Boats lack airbags, ABS, DSC, and nice leather seats
1. Boats just don't look good polished in my driveway!

Honestly. I'd rather have the new Mini Cooper S than a 75 ft yacht.

hey nice story!

i have a counterpoint... you can be the best but sometimes, the better person doesn't win... don't make me elucidate

ok, let me clarify a little. i don't believe in random luck b/c you can't do anything about it. but i do believe in a type of luck which you can make... matter of perception.

i get the orange part, but not the marlin?

Boats are great - for your friends to own! Otherwise they are a big hole in the water that you toss money into. (my opinion of course, having several friends who own boats)

I'm pretty sure they do have the same 400 hp engine. You just have to pay 40 grand more for no roof!

Geez, glad you're not my friend. Boats are very expensive hobbies but they are also very therapeudic. I can tell you that after a long day, it is hard to argue with taking a nice boat ride at sunset and having a couple of drinks at the closest tiki bar. But it isn't for everyone. Where I live, most of my friends have boats and it isn't uncommon to have 6-8 boats out on a weekend and anchoring off at little islands to spend the day. If that is a money pit, well I say details. (However, if I made chum everytime I was on a boat like Orangemarlin I don't think I'd like it) Enjoy your friends while you still got 'em!

Actually, I have considering getting a boat several times

but couldn't justify it - in Dallas I'd have to drive an hour to get to a decent lake. I just don't think I would use it enough to justify the cost.

If you can get out on it several times a month is begins to make sense.

Benzo, I bet it's nice!
