Buy an used cl600..

hello
I have an S320 cdi and I would like also to buy an used cl600.

up to now with S320 I have done 250.000 km with no problems...
I would like to know if cl600 can do all this km or if it's delicate..

I would like to buy my friend's cl600 which has 140.000 km ()year 2001)..
how many km can this engine do?

You didn't mention car's year, but I think that the V12 is bulletproof. It's the electronics that will bite you in the wallet. I would not own one of these cars without a warranty. I have an '05 SL600 that has an easy life plodding up and down the freeway. I just got it from the dealer. I complained of a check engine light and the cause was an engine (or turbo) oil separator failure. There were four pages of work done. This car is well maintained and driven mostly by my wife. Make sure you have a warranty.

I paid nothing. Car is under warranty. My point is that my car is not abused, raced and it's never even been in the rain. It's pampered and I still had what I consider to be a serious failure because (as it was explained to me) my turbo was not being cooled.

The MY00 is not turbocharged, so this specific issue may not be a problem for you. Again, a warranty is key.

I suspect that you'd find similar problems in the S (not to mention across MB's entire product line). It's just that as you move up the price scale you also move up the complexity scale. More complex = more potential problems. If SLs and CLs weren't so beatutiful and bada$$, I'd be driving something else.

If I could only afford a C-class, then I'd buy a Honda or Nissan. Better car, better value and better reliability. As much as my cars have been at the dealer for problems, I've had a chance to drive many C classes and each one has been crap. In other words, MB's have problems top to bottom. So just be prepared.

How much is this CL that you're considering?
