Pictures of my CL

Guys I have had a few forum members ask me for pictures of my CL600 with Renntech monolites, so I am posting here. Also a picture of the Eisenmann exhaust, this was a conversion from the single tip exhaust. Its sound is phenomenol, I will post a clip here shortly for those that wanted to hear it as well. The tips are different in shape than the AMG exhaust, but the nice thing about them is that its a full pipe, not a fake "end" attached to a puny pipe like on the AMG exhaust.

the lip is suprisingly thin on this rim.

The lip is CORRECT. This is the best offset for keeping the CL's body neutral through corners and not transfering weights to the wrong axle or causing excessive understeer. Look at the lip on a CL65. If all the fat 4" and 5" lips were right, AMG would be doing it on the car. To get a fatter lip for looks you decrease positive offset and you widen the rear track. This causes excessive understeer in corners on a car that already tends to push.

It may look cool, but its wrong. The best setup for the W215 actually, from a performance standpoint, is equal offset front and rear.

To me things that are mechanicaly incorrect, look wrong. A wheel that is too large, a lip that is too wide, a duct or a spoiler that is fake, an exhaust system that is too big... When I see these things, they don't look good to me.

When I look at the Monolites, I don't see a thin lip. I see a super light super strong forged performance wheel... And to me, THAT looks good.

what is the max width of tires on the front and rear

my friend put 305's on the rear, but i think the cl's max is 275?

It depends... you can do up to a 295 with a +51 offset, you get traction but you lose handling. Anything larger will rub without body modifications.

i just won a set of monolights

off ebay for $2000. it comes with 245/275's. My biggest problem is traction, i currently have 265 pilor sport sp's. I am not sure what the new rims come with.

I agree it does look really clean.....Seem like the wheels are a little small. Are they 18"? Mayby its the smaller lip but they look like 18". Great Car!! Keep It Up.

I think its cause the lugs are exposed....making the wheel exposure seem smaller....Obvioulsy these do not come with a cap...looks good.

They are 19". They do look bigger than the factory 18" AMG and everyone tells me that. It might be optical, but I also think you are used to the look of your 20's... If you look at 20's everyday then a 19" will look small.

They came with caps... someone seems to swipe all the caps on my cars everytime I park outside. I don't know what he needs them for. I replace them and 2 days later they are gone again.

Funny I think my 20's a hair to big...Must just be the pics....Im sure they are perfect in person. As for the caps can you use a security head (are they held on with a small allen?) bolt like the ones they put on cable boxs?...Mayby that would help. I would love to see a pic with the caps on.

I am a bad photographer...I just realized I took those pics with the suspension in the "raised" position... that increases the gap, makes the wheels look smaller... certianly in person they look bigger. People love them.

really nice ride. Although I am not a fan of aftermarket
