Man, you guys sound like my wife!

Well, my S55 and CL600 were nearly even trades money-wise and my CL500 was a lease turn-in.

The airline I work for just lost 2/3rds of the flying contracts we had (thanks to UPS) and is in serious trouble. There was supposed to be a big contract to save us but it fell through. So, I've made the decision to sell the car and throw some cash back in the bank so I can make the mortgage payments if things drag on too long. Gotta love aviation.

Thanks guys....the CL600 is such a small community...and I mean SMALL...but the members are really good people!!

The car is in sweet condition so if I don't get good cash for it I will hang on to it as long as possible. I haven't lost my job quite yet and airlines have a way of turning around at the blink of an eye (at least non-scheduled cargo airlines).

If you guys know anybody that is interested please send them my way.
Thanks!
Wes

Here are some outside pics which show a more realistic (brighter) color of the paint than the inside photos....

Yes, the community is small, but it's smaller still when most current CL owners are older, non-carguys that just have a lot of money, and aren't interested in communicating with like-minded people over the internet. The 215 owner community will, however, eventually grow and change (for the worse) once the value of these cars get down into the $20K range. I've seen it before. At first, conversations are very civil and professional, but over the years, it will gradually deteriorate. That's why I'm going to miss you as I've never seen you flame anyone. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for the kind words David! I think I'll still be here for a while....CL's don't have a reputation for selling quickly....being a high-priced coupe I think it takes a special buyer. Even if it does sell, I'll troll around...haha

I am going to have to flame someone though.....blahzayblah....can't you get that pic in color?!!??

Hold out for $65k min.

Red00lght:

It's like David M/// says; the "deterioration" has already begun!

Hope the airline gets another contract...or a bail-out.

Good to hear that you're waiting for the right buyer.

Good luck; Hate to see you (and your ride) go.

Yep, it's too bad the 215s seemingly took the worst value hit of any Benz ever. It was and still is a great design, but like all designs, the styles must keep up with the design trends, and do, mostly for the better, IMHO. I never thought the old SECs (126C) would ever look dated. Back in the 80s they looked so cool and swift. Now look at them! They look like old worn-out boxes with wheels. I hate to say it, and I'm sure this comment will invite some flames, but unfortunately, the 215 is soon headed in that direction as well. It's not like it's a collector classic like a 1955 300SL Gullwing, for example, like Merc used to make. Technical marvels and cool, cutting-edge designs they may be, but none of these production cars today will ever become a true classic like that. And the same thing will eventually happen to the 216 as well!

And it's only going to get worse, so, OFF IT NOW before you see them selling for $20K which they will before you know it! If you think it's bad now, the real plunge has yet to take place once the new CL starts hitting the streets. So, enjoy it while it still has some "presence" - about another year or so, but if you have a chance to get out of it at a decent price now, DO IT!

As long as it's in great condition, this car will eventually bottom out at around $10K and hover. From $130K to $10K in about 10 years!!!

I agree...the way these things drop in value is astonishing, but I think we all knew that when we bought them. The 2007 models will impact the value of the current gen CL's in a bad way... I could see an 03 CL600 (out of warranty) getting mid-40's from the dealer a year from now. That is a drop of nearly $100,000 in 4 years. I think I did better investing in AOL!

That being said, I think this current model won't look very aged for quite a while. Why? Well, the E63 coming out still has a similar styled front-end as well as the SL550....and there won't be alot of the new CL's flooding the streets to compare it to. So...to all the CL owners....don't fret about the future...enjoy the ride today! I wish I was keeping mine!
