Any Cl owners in Chicago
Haven't done the Chicago downtown working commute in a while ... lived in Evanston ~10 years ago, but my knowledge of good downtown places to stay is stale.
Just an FYI ... Schaumburg is a healthy distance from downtown.
Oh ... I'm very interested in the setup of your CL600.

Go to www.apartments.com to look for apartments, although Schaumburg isn't a bad suburb.
any input on this one?

The advantage you have with Elk Grove Village is that you are at least close to 90 and 290. On your next visit, my recommendation is to see if you could do your planned commute from downtown to Elk Grove Village during what your normal trip time would be and judge for yourself. Pretty much any opinion I give would be relative, what I think is bad may be okay for you based on what your current commute might be.

was your car was in service today? I took it in this morning and saw a horizon blue cl55.
i stayed in downtown during the july 4th weekend. i worked monday (5th) and there was no traffic and i made it in 30 min. on tuesday, it took me about 50 minutes. so it makes me wonder whether traffic was light because people were out of town? or is it because there was construction on the freeway (by the toll booths)?

Traffic seemed to be light over the 4th, it was kinda strange. There was a rush for people to get out of the city on Friday, but my family travelled on the 4th itself and O'Hare was barren.
Some might say that your planned commute is going "opposite" of the congestion, you will be going out of the city when everyone is coming in and then going into the city when everyone is going out. If you find a place in the downtown area that enables you to get on the expressway system quickly, the commute out to Elk Grove Village may not be too bad.
I didn't want to get your expectations out of sorts earlier, but since you've already tried the route I'll let you know what I was thinking -> one hour conservatively.
On the opposite end of the spectrum would be the place I lived in Evanston which was a few blocks off the lake. It would take me 20 minutes just to get to the expressway, making it hard to make up time.
Randomly went through CL forum today and I totally recognized your car at the Hoffman dealership! The renntech badge on the back and those wheels were a little hard to miss. Just thought I'd let you know, that dealership is not the best from my experience. It's worth the trip to Motorwerks Barrington, I found their service department to be a lot more professional. That and I use Mercedes Naperville.
He coordinated the tranny from California (ironic) and had it installed in 1/2 day. I have not had the car since last tuesday, i must say that it drives like new.
I give Hoffman MB 5*'s on this service.
