Extended Warranty recommendation needed
Guys, the factory warranty on my 2002 CL600 recently expired, and I do not want to wait too long before purchasing an extended warranty or service contract. The car has been very reliable, but having read some of the horror stories, it freaks me out every time I take it out of the garage. I've gotten an online quote from Auto Warranty Brokers for a Mercury Platinum warranty for around $4200.00 for 4 years, 100k miles. The car currently has 36k on it. Does anyone have experience with Mercury or any other warranty companies?
Thanks in advance,
John

I have an '03 500 with about 40k mi. on it and I have been looking for the same thing and thinking the same way as you when it comes to taking the car out of the garage. I have been using the "search tool" in the MBworld forum and came across a bunch of different companies from fellow members. In California we have special laws that regulate these aftermarket warranty co.'s so only a certain few offered coverage to CA motorists. One of these companies stood out to me as far as coverage and price. This is the site:
http://www.warrantydirect.com/
I have just purchased a four year 100,000 mi. warranty from them.
It covers all non-maintenance items including the ABC suspension system. These guys can tell you if they have dealt with or currently deal with your stealership of choice. They give the shop a credit card auth. within two hours of the faxed invoice so the repair places love 'em because of the quick turn around.
Mine cost me about $3600 (in my mind a bargain)and I am so relieved now that I have it!
Let the miles roll on!
Good luck to you.

If you guys find a warranty company that will cover the CL600 let me know. I have an 01 I've been searching for ages and no one want to cover the CL600, just the V8.
edit: warranty direct, mentioned in the above post won't cover 600. I guess thats why our cars are worth 35-40K now

You are correct, warranty direct doesn't cover the 600, but there are a bunch of companies that do.
Type into google "exotic car warranty" and you may have some better luck. There are companies out there that just specialize in high-end rigs.
I just did and got this company- http://www.extendedautowarrantybrokers.com/inquiry.php -who said that they DID cover the 600-I didn't get into it with them so you'll want to verify the coverage, but I asked the rep. and he did say they cover it-So give it a shot-I know there are companies out there that will.
Hope this helps, good luck guys.

Well, I went back to autowarrantybrokers.com to purchase the warranty for the CL600, and they no longer offer the Mercury Platinum warranty for the 600.
Any other suggestions?
