SBC Pump Warranty Extension, how about one for the ABC pump?

Looks like MB has extended the warranty for SL owners on the pump for the Sensotronic Brake system. Extension is to 10 years total from in-service date/unlimited miles.

https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-r230/171756-10-yr-warranty-pump-brakes-2003-sl500.html

Apparently, these pumps are prone to failure, and pose a possible safety hazard. Sound familiar?

I would like to think that we CL owners deserve the same consideration with regards to our (obviously underengineered) ABC pumps. Thankfully mine hasn't failed, but these failures seem to be quite common, and I expect more from a $130k automobile.

Any comments from fellow owners?

When you we pay this kind of money (100k +), for an automobile if MB wants us to remain loyal a lot of consideration should be given across the board.

I just posted on another thread in this forum my discussion with a salesman in Chicago, who also happens to own a CL. He just had his fixed after receiving a letter last week stating the same 10 year extension for CL owners. I asked him if it addressed other models with the same pump and he said his letter was only for CL owners. Maybe the letters are now in the process of being sent to the respective owners and hopefully everyone will receive the same consideration.

He did offer to fax me a copy of the letter, and I thanked him, but said it was not necessary. I could call him and ask if he would still considered faxing me the letter and I might be able to post it.

Anyone receive one yet?

SBC vs ABC pumps

Guys
We are getting the SBC brake pump and the ABC
body pump confused.

Because of all the problems with the SBC Brake pump.
MBZ has givin it a 10 year warranty.
That included my SL55. So I got the letter about a week ago.
I guess it would also cover late model CL if it has the SBC
brakes.

But ABC pumps. Active Body Control. NOT extended to 10
years. And yes. It is the weak link in the CL.

bltserv, thank you for the clarifiaction. I will need to find out which was covered on this particular CL. The salesman kept referring to it as the "compressor pump." Sounds as though he may have meant the SBC pump and not the Active Body Control pump.

2005 E55 AMG Stage 1
First post

Hello MBWorld,
This is my first post cuz I just joined lol. Always I would like to say, I've had mt 05 e55 for almost 6 years and I purchased it with about 35k on it. It has 115k today and I replaced my SBC unit earlier this year OUT of old warranty. However I recieved a letter in the mail from MB ,Stating the original post is correct! And even though I had a Indy specialist do the repairs I'll have my wife take my invoice to the local dealer and process my reimbursement. The letter tells you how to proceed, otherwise contact your local MB dealer. Thanks for having me on here.. Just my thoughts got letter today!

To be clear the warranty extension only applies to the sbc braking system

there never has been any abc warranty extension , as much as 215 owners would like one . There was a recall for one abc hose and that is all .

Hello fellow benz owner with SBC

Hello I just had the same thing happen.! SBC went out and I took it to my Indy last year to get repair done for $1800. Now I have got my letter and submitted last week. Did you ever get reimbursed? I’m curious if I actually will get reimbursed or not???. Thanks!
