Which Warranty??? CL600...

Thinking of buying a 2003 CL600 with 20k miles on it. Which warranty should I get. I know these cars can be problematic, so I want to make sure I get something which covers all my bases. Anybody have any previous experiences (good & bad) which they could share?

Thanks!

How about Lynden, Fidelity (Bank of America), or Great American?

Are those any good?

If you plan to mod the car with aftrmarket upgrades (ECU) then don't bother getting warranty; you will not be covered if something expensive happens. The warranty company might tell you they'll cover it, but they will not.

That being said, I'd still recommend you to upgrade the ECU in a CL600 (or any turbo car) and forget the warranty. If you want to have a total beast that can literally keep up with the fastest cars in the world, then upgrade the ECU. Definitely the best money you'll spend on your CL600 IMO.

You really want a warranty that covers the ABC suspension. Most won't. An ABC problem almost always runs in the thousands. You need coverage for an active, hydraulic syspension. "Air suspension" or pneumatic suspension won't do it.

The failure items on these cars are electrical (control modules, SAMS, etc.) and ABC.

Don't buy the car. You're gonna get the bug to modify and with such low miles it would be a shame to purchase a warranty that won't cover any of the isuues that WILL come up. Don't fool yourself in to thinking that you won't have problems because the car has low mileage, great shape, etc. I thought the same thing and the inevitable happened. My warranty is gone, my mods have killed any chance of warranty company covering the important stuff so **** it...I'm making her fast in spite of it!

I disagree with you!!! My CL has 45,000 miles and no problems. Car runs great and is super fast. Everyone who gets in my car can't believe how quick it is.

He should buy the car and forget the warrany. He's getting the car for a good price with very low miles; he really can't go wrong here.

You are very lucky! Most folks I know start to hit problems at about 48K. I hope you continue to have a trouble free ride. I am just over 52K and I hope I worked out all the kinks since my warranty just expired. Did he say how much for the car? If not, what's he getting it for?

BTW, what makes your CL so fast? I feel like my mods are pretty decent. Share and compare!

First off, my car is a CL600 with twin turbos. If your car is a CL500, then it's a totally different car.

Second, Twin turbo cars are very easy to tune. The car stock came with 493HP and 590TQ. I went with the Renntech ECU and TCU upgrades for $5000 and now my car has 630HP and 750TQ. My car will beat almost anything. Someone on this board with the same car and mods as me recently ran the 1/4 mile in 11.3 seconds.

Thanks for clearing up the difference between our cars...I was just asking what you've done. Thanks.

Check the factory for an extended one. If not PM me and I will send you over details on mine. It covers everything except rubber hoses, belts, and spark plugs. I have had at least 10K covered in the last year. $50 deduct. each time you put it in

Recently bought my 03 CL600 for 35k locally, car had 25k miles on it about 3 months ago (now have 27.5k). Car came with extended factory backed warranty until 2009 (or 100k miles) so I guess I am okay. So far happy with the car, just SRS warning light came on this week so going to bring the car back to stealer for warranty check up.

No regret so far buying this car, for this kind of price you can't go wrong even if warranty expires. Still cheap for what it is.

As per my last post, I bought the car for $35k with 25k miles on the clock and 6 years 100K miles extended warranty came with the car.

Happy camper so far.

What a pisser...

My warranty company excluded all v12's.... crappy now that I'm looking for a newer one...... I did read previous posts, does anyone have any prices (or ranges) for an 03 or 04 warranty with bumper to bumper coverage up to 100K if possible....
