HOLY S***!!! that's crazy. I really hope you bought an extended warranty, if not, go take your car to a good indy mb shop. I would bet if cost would be 50% less, simply b/c the dealers labor rates are super high.
Good luck!

Maybe let us know where u are located, and some forum members can point u in the right directions in terms of finding a good indy shop..
also post your questions in the MB Tech section and get their feedback.. 14K is serious money to spend on a leak.

I don't know man; seems fishy. What would an oil leak have to do with "engine harness... coil pace... m/e control unit... computer".
If the car is drivable, take it somewhere else. Even if all that crap needs to be done, $14K is insanity. The same unnecessary job can probably be done for half that amount at an indy. Good luck!

Its my understanding that the Bi turbos have less issues but when an issue does come up, it can be pricey. With that said, the N/A V12 is much more problematic. I had this confirmed through the tuner I use. The old 600 he has in the shop is still on life support and the prognosis is not good.

None that I'm aware of, but one should exist. The indy I know is in Paterson (North Jersey) and is called Leo Foreign Auto Repair. The owner's name is Leo of course. My father-in-law referred me as he's dealt with him for over 20 years. He also has SDS.

Hello Guys,
It's been almost a year and a half since I have been to the forum. I traded my CL6oo for a '08 GMC Sierra, yes I did miss the CL untill I read this post! This almost happened to me when they could not find a vacume leak. They said $900 will start the clock!!
I was looking here to find an answer to a ABS BAS ESP displayed on the 2000 E430.
By the way, where did the leak originate? They did a warranty replacement on my oil sending unit. They leak and send oil throughout the engine harness.
GOOD LUCK!!
Ed

Not CNJ, but Stuttgard Motors in Southampton (just off Rt 206 & Rt 70 circle) has my '02 600 in shop now with same problem on oil cooler leak, also doing some other work. Will be getting it back next week. Wolfgang has good rep for the Benz work he does, some of my family has taken cars to his shop for years and swear by him. PM me and I'll let you know how my situation comes out next week. P.J.

just picked up my CL600 from shop
I can definetly recommend Stuttgart, just picked up my CL600, was less $ then I expected! What the dealer is telling you is oil in the engine may be same as what was with mine. When Wolfgang was taking engine down (originally thought it was leaking head gaskets, not oil cooler) there was little bit of oil pooled on top of the valve stems, he thought maybe valve seals leaking. Anyhow, once he got it apart, realized it was just oil cooler problem. He did my B service, new oil cooler, crank sensor, new head bolts and hardware, new gaskets everywhere, new seals, new spark plugs (expensive buggers and need 24 of them), new indicator bulb, adjusted ABC, new oil and coolant hoses and reset anything else he could find that needed adjustment. As said, price was way less then I expected for all that, basically what your dealer quoted you first time. That being said, he told me today that he doesn't know if he wants to keep taking in big jobs like that, because he needs to stay on them so long and his other work gets backed up. I was not in a rush since I drive my truck most days anyhow, so he worked on it as he could.
So, if you need work done and you close to Burlington County, definetly recommend him.
