dvd on factory nav. unit
there are a couple of aftermarket people who can convert your Nav. comand 2.5 pree 03 version to accept a DVD player TV tunner , back up camera .........
it works well . however you need to use a FM modulator for sound and a seperate switch to switch from normal operation to Video mode
photo is from my personal car and this is first hand information ... I use it alot

cost is aprox 2,000 . everything still works normally even Nav.
it come with a dvd player and you can watch it driving the car
switches on and off with a simple switch . you can add TV tunner for about 200.00 or back up camera for about 160.00
true the Warentte on the Comand center is void . However the Nav TV version will also Void your Warentte .
I say who cares I want to be able to watch the ball game on my way home from work.

...............The absolute simplest way is to purchase a Megacomme adapter or an MB TV tunner and simply plug it to the back of your comand and activate it via star. Yes, you can activate 2003 models. I was just saw this done 30mins ago in a 2003 SL500.
...............Another easy option is to send your unit to Megacomme and they will do everything and send it back to you.
.................If anyone leaves near Atlanta and wants this done, let me know.
.................As far as comparison with Alpine, some accurate info needs to be given. All you are doing is providing video input to the Comand. You still have to buy Alpine, Kenwood etc DVD player or tunner.

I love driving. I love the feel of a good car on the road. When I want to watch a DVD, I drive home, I pop open a Diet Pepsi, I set in my leather recliner, I take out the Magnavox Remote, and I push the controller to turn on the plasma screen TV and the DVD. And I watch Gladiator in full color with Dolby Surround.
When I'm in the car, I watch for other cars, deer, obstructions, trees, kids, and idiots driving MB's watching a DVD.
I'm glad not all MB drivers are demanding a TV screen. Because then I'll be reminded that BMW drivers are drivers, and MB drivers are old farts.
Drive. Don't phone home. Don't phone the office. Don't eat a Big Mac. And certainly don't watch a movie.
IMHO, why the heck do you need a TV screen in your car, especially visible to the driver. Are there not enough distractions driving?
Having video in the car has turned an 11+ hour nightmare into a 8.5 hour smooth, effortless drive. It's amazing how the kids used to dread the trip, but now find it to be fun!
I would NEVER use the video input for driver distraction, and I would strongly disparage anyone from doing so. Keep your eyes outside the car, for all our sakes, please!
