If otoh the car is slumping after being parked it is due to a leaky check valve in the valve block(s).
Thanks for the quick reply--much apprecaited.

The car is slumped on the left side, front and back and will not raise. If the car is running, or parked and powered off, same result. Is there a way to tell if it's the front or back valve block?

Since it slumps front and back it is probably both. I

Buy a MBZ STAR SERVICE Service Manual Library DVD from the dealer if you feel like DIY.
It has all Repair, Maintenance, Diagnostic Info and Function Description, Wiring Diagrams with Component Locations, Service Bulletins and DTB, Owners and Introduction Manual.

Hey guys, I am writing from Spain and I apologize for my English.
I have a CL500-2001 and I also have problems with ABC, the car has 105000km and carries the ZAS system for disconnection of cylinders, the lowered suspension after a few days if left standing, when I start my car skips the warning under-go to workshop, well, I give the button to raise the car and the screen disappears, everything goes smoothly, this summer I made some 10000km to Europe with no problems, the car only if it remains stationary low over two days, the fluid level is fine The pump works quietly, just gets out front, I can do, give me that advice, the foreman told me that Mercedes currently do not have to worry about me but what scares me is that the system does not work well while I'm up and I have an accident.
Another thing, I need to change the spark plugs and I have doubts between NGK and Bosch, which should put here in Spain cost about $ 23 piece and do not want problems from a bad spark plug change, if someone can pass a number of references for spark plugs.
Thank you, "Greetings.

Looks like my ABC is blown. Was driving on the freeway when this happened. It think the the ABC pump seized and my belt actually came off (not broken). Fluid is leaking from somewhere, probably the pump or hoses. It's sitting at the dealership now. I am bracing myself for the estimate!

How much should I expect to pay to get this fixed? My 2005 S600 has 65K on it and been running perfectly until now. I heard there may be a Mercedes service bulletin out there that may cover this. I've also heard that Mercedes supposedly have a lifetime warranty on the ABC pump. My car is out of warranty, so I'm trying to avoid taking a big $$ hit on this. I heard this happens a lot, so I'm wondering if anyone has been successful in getting Mercedes to pay for this? Thanks in advance!

Oxygen: I hear you're the expert on this issue of the ABC. What should I expect to pay for this repair? My dealer will call me later on the costs for repairs and I just want to give an educated response so I don't get robbed.

No lifetime warranty on the ABC pump. It's probably going to be between $2500 - $3500, ABC pump, depending on exactly what else failed.

ABC Problems 2

I've got a 2000 CL 500 with 100,000 miles and have been having ABC issues since about 94,000 miles. I've had the dealer replace the right rear strut, had the pump replaced, had the system drained and still have the ABC warning "visit workshop" and/or car too low. The dealer indicated that for them to try and repair this problem it may cost an additional $2500-$3500 on top of the $1800 I've spent already. I've heard that some owners had replaced their MB struts with regular struts. Any suggestions on what to try next?

On an other forum a guy had the same problem and the solution was a ride height calibration.

Hope this helps.

What exactly are the symptoms your car is showing?

First thing I'd do is....Check the fluid level in the ABC reservoir and top up if needed.
You have to know this stuff in order to not be taken advantage of.

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w215...intenance.html Read this link and study it well.

If that's all you need, tell the dealer that you are not impressed with their diagnostic abilities and then order the MBZ STAR SERVICE Service Manual Library DVD for 220/215 models.

Then find a different shop to do the work correctly, as the info contained in the DVD is the same info the MBZ techs use and ALL procedures are contained within the DVD.

Thanks for the reply. Everytime I start the vehicle the "visit workshop" indicator comes on. Also when driving, the ABC warning pings whenever I hit any small bump or uneven surface. The dealer indicated that I might need another strut (left rear) and/or it might be a valve issue. Since I'm not a mechanical DIY type, I did take it to another shop first. I guess I'll find a third shop and show them this MBZ STAR SERVICE Manual. Thanks again!

Hello. I have an SL500. I was having the ABC light come on, it said to drive carefully. My mechanic said that the valve is leaking (left front) and showed me it. Replacement will cost $1400 plus labor, does that sound right to you? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there anyway to just replace the ABC system with a traditional Coilover system? ABC just seems like its to much trouble

what year's your W215? how many miles on it? I've seen a lot of these pumps (including mine) go at about 30k, but they seem to last a while after that. I believe the design was improved @ some point post 2004. Any idea if the pump that quit was the original or a replacement?
