headlight bulb upgrade question
Gang,
Is there an upgrade/after-market bulb for an 03 CL-55, especially the low-beams that is brighter than MB stock?
Thanks in advance.

E53 Wagon, Model 3, Miata, etc, etc
To be brighter, you'll need new ballast and bulb... but normally you just change the bulb, which is D2S, normal color should be 4500 or so, but people normally get 6000 or 8000, higher the number bluer it is... anything above is too dim...

H7 get 65 watt rally H7 bulbs have H9 burners on H7 base.

The brightest bulb you'll find is probably the Philips 85122+. It's rated at (IIRC, I can't find the spec sheets anymore) 3400 lumens and 4300K (slightly yellowish-white). Normal 4300K bulbs are ~3200 lumens. It's also designed not to colorshift (become more blue and lose output over time) like the regular 85122.
If you're looking for more than a few hundred lumens, you're not going to get it with bulbs. Upgrading from the stock 35W ballast to a 55W ballast would give you a significant improvement in output, but I don't know if the car's wiring and electronics can handle it.
