In comfort mode the box changes from 2nd gear? Oldest news in the Benz fraternity.

Read the OM for different combos of ABC and transmission modes and the conditions under which they are appropriate.

Oh yes and just press the ABC Sport button on the dash panel, the little red led should come on.

Sport mode and ABC Sport button on, that's how you drive a CL55

comfort mode used to be called winter mode- the car starts off in 2nd gear, less likely to spin on slippery roads. I believe the shift points are slightly higher in the sport mode as well.

The car does many things different in sport mode. I don't know them all but yes it starts in first gear, but in sports mode the car "learns" or adapts the transmission to different shift points. The car does not do this in comfort mode. This is at least according to MB. My car was shifting strange almost like too soon and I had to drive in sport mode for 800 miles so things could reset. In sport mode the tranny also hold the gears longer after the kick down is activated. You will also burn through tires much faster in sportier lol. I found that my tires lasts muchuch longer driving in comfort mode

You guys are talking about 2 different things here (as I am still not 100% sure what the OP meant).

There is a C/S (comfort/sport) for the transmission.
Also, there is a Comfort/Sport for the ABC.

Which one are we talking about here?

Folks should realize the CL AMG, for example, has more options than garden variety MBs or AMGs.

For example, one can use combos of C transmission, ABC Sport off, and Vehicle Body elevation with one light on and proper tires to effect safe driving under winter conditions.

Abc sport light on, no lights on the elevation control, S or M mode on the tranny with summer wheels and tires are good for summer driving, the track, and so on on good roads.

Read your OM.
