Bubbles in ABC Fluid?
2002 CL500
Hi Guys,
Hope all is well. So I walk out the house and the wheel is almost under the fender. ABC light comes on and I raise the car up, and it goes away. Every 2-3 weeks the car would drop in the FRONT and recently when I would sit at the red light, I could feel the car fall with the ABC light coming on 30 seconds afterwards.
My friend is a mechanic at the Benz dealer. He took the car in, did a rodeo and flush and problem was still not fixed. So then he said the fault codes returned from the diagnostic machine says the front valve block needs to be replaced OR the ABC module. Since the car was dropping in the front, we replaced the valve block with a rebuilt Valve block I found online for $450. ABC light did not go away.
After changing the valve block he noticed there are bubbles in the ABC fluid dipstick which he says is because air is getting caught somewhere (something about air....????). He said since we changed the valve block, we have to flush and rodeo the car again. He's going to do this Monday
My question is, is a rodeo/flush really necessary after changing a valve block? He said its very important because we need to make sure all the fluid, air and debris is gone after changing valve block, struts, power steering pump etc....
I'm also curious as to why the ABC Visit Workshop light came back on even after changing the valve block....
thanks everyone

If air is getting in, your pump is failing. You will need to change your pump. Its not creating enough pressure to keep the car up. I don't think the valve block was at fault either.

I forgot to mention there was fluid present under the driver side tire. But friend said there no visible leak from the power steering pump

You were right. My pump is failing. It's leaking. The seal around it is broken/bad
I'm taking it back to the dealer that replaced it 2 years ago. I'm going to fight for them to fix it for free. They better...I paid close to 3k

Dealer won't help. Part and labor is only covered for only 1 year. I'm pissed because a year after the pump was replaced, the ABC light came back on and they didn't find anything wrong with the car. After that day, the car never drove or sounded the same.
I fought with the *******s for almost 30 minutes and left by telling them I'll see you in court.
They misdiagnosed my car last year and/or put a band-aid on that pump.

The seal you are referring to is what failed when my pump was showing signs of an issue. When it starts to fail it will leak like a sieve. The problem is that most the fluid gets caught in the belly pan so you don't see it in time to realize your pump is about to fail.
This is when you MUST pay attention to the RED ABC warnings. Most the time a red warning means low pressure in the system.

is there a way we can replace, or repair the seal?

Well, i bought a rebuilt pump for $670 off ebay and the PS 11 fluid was $15 a liter off a site I found online.
Car is currently at the Benz dealer. Good thing my friend is a mechanic there. They don't install parts bought outside of the dealership.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
So what exactly is the procedure for installing the pump?
1) take pump off
2) flush and rodeo
3) install new pump
????????

i believe you take out the pump, install new pump, put in fluid, rodeo and keep refilling fluid as needed. i believe.
