[CONFUSED] 2004 CL600 bumpers

Hi guys,

Am I right in thinking that the 2004 CL600 on the pictures has Mercedes front bumper but AMG skirts and rear bumper? Can it come standard like this or is this a retrofit?

EDIT: to add to my own thread, below are pictures of a 2003 CL600 with AMG front bumper and Mercedes skirts and rear bumper! Can anybody shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Picture 1 (front) and picture 4 (rear) do not have AMG sport bumpers. They either comes with or without sport, not just front or rear bumper. And yes, you can retrofit them.

Check side skirts. The first has AMG rear and skirts, which means they probably had an accident and fitted a regular front bumper and fog lights.

Second doesn't, it was probably a non-sport and they retrofit the front bumper to change the look.

Just a guess.

Cars
Looks to me that the front or rear of the car have been replaced. The paint is an obvious discoloration between the body and the car. The front bumper is NON AMG as is ONE side rail. The other side is an AMG skirt and the rear bumper is AMG. I would think this car has been in an accident and replaced with parts that where available or at hand to get it fixed and ready to sell. I wouldn't touch this one. Anyone that would start a retro fit and not finish is either stupid or cheap. Either way you don't want a car that has been in an accident. You would have to change either the front or rear bumper and one side and then strip and repaint them, so they match. It will cost DOE REY ME. If I were going to correct the *******ization. Also, notice the RH rear quarter is a different color as well and the wheels are not correct either. Id say it was originally a NON AMG

One of my CL's with the AMG came with the smile rear bumper I bought a new 65 bumper and changed it out and put dual tips on. Now I have the outside that looks like a 65 but a 600. Im very happy. I dont like the AMG regular bumper the smile in rear looks strange to me.

Wow, amazing replies guys, thanks a lot. I did notice they looked mismatched, hence my concerns. Will keep my eye out for the right one.

Many thanks again.

My W215 CL600TT came with AMG kit and it has the same rear bumper as the 04 car above. It is a different bumper style to W215 CL55 and CL65. I have always assumed therefore that the rear bumper was not "genuine" AMG until now. Are you all sure that the rear bumper in the 04 photo is a genuine AMG?

They were not standard

The AMG appearance package was not standard on ANY of the CL W215 models, they were either ordered or not. The CL 55 and CL 65 had its own rear bumper and was the most beautiful of them all. The picture is an ORIGINAL AMG apperance package bumper on the rear but if you really look at the car, the RH side has a NON AMG skirt and the left and AMG skirt. THe front bumper is a totally different color than the body and notice on the rear the bumper is a different color, as is the rear quarter on the RH side. This car is a ******* and if someone would even care to buy it, I'm sure they would will find structural damage as well. It's obvious this was a car that was either in an accident or an idiot who was changing parts as he could afford too. Either way the car would have to be corrected and repainted so the car would match all the way around.

WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!!!! Im looking at these cars and the pictures are of two different cars. What is going on???????? One car has AMG front and rear and the other has an AMG front and base rear. Both repaints. These are not the same cars. I just noticed the plates are different as well. Either way, the wheels are not correct on either car and they both have been repainted. Both are a mess. Sorry for the confussion.

If you read the original post you will find that it clearly says they are two different cars! the first two photos are of a 2004 car, the last two from a 2003 car. Both are obviously "mix and match".

My point was about the rear bumper on the first car. Everyone seems to have commented that it is an AMG bumper. But as I said, it is a different style to the bumper on a CL55AMG and CL65AMG. Do you still class the rear bumper on the first car as AMG?

YES, the first picture is a REAL AMG factory bumper. The bumpers on the 55 and 65 are a different version of the AMG. The AMG bumper from 2000-2006 was this one from the factory as an appearance package option. The 55 and 65 were a standard AMG bumper skin without the smile. By far the 55 and 65 bumper is the nicest looking and are interchangeable to ALL W215 body styles.

Thanks for this clarification. I agree the 55 and 65 bumpers are nicer looking. (I had a 55 before my 600 came along, pictures in my gallery) but always assumed the 600 bumper was a standard one.
