Driver Side Door Control Issues 2001 CL 5000

I am very new to the forum but has been tons of help so thanks. My driver's side control panel module seems to not be working. My window is almost all the way down and cant raise it. I tried to disconnect battery but didnt bring power back to the control panel. Not sure if this could be a fuse issue. If so where is the fuse located that would control this module? Is there a special procedure for changing a fuse or just pull it out and put one in....providing that there is a fuse for the control module. Any suggestions. Is there anyway that I can at least raise the window to the closed position so I can drive in the rain? Thanks for your help big time Mark@themedicalchartingcompany.com

Mark,

The wires going from the door to the car are probably frayed. Check them by opening the door and pulling back the rubber boot.

Not being the most mech inclined individual does the boot just pop off. I guess it will be fairly evident that if there is fraying or is it something that will have to be checked electronically. Mainly curios about if the boot pops off easily. Thanks so much for responding.

Yes. If you don't feel comfortable with it, I would just take it to a reputable independent shop. But definitely start there. It has happened to almost all of us. The wires need to be extended.

Even if you pop the accordion boot off you will still need to check inside the sheathes (there are three of them) that the wires run through.

Its best to remove the door panel. Then the boot and trace backwards visually or by using a continuity test.

Sounds cheaper

Thanks Adam for the heads up. I just bought the car three months back and with on 88k miles paid only 11k it was is great condition but it does sit overnight but will raise back up again. So, guess I will have to deal with that issue eventually. Yea, made an appt with mech to check door control module or wiring issue on tuesday. Hopefully from what you say it want be a module but just wiring. I might just go ahead and get a rodeo while doing that too. Thanks for your adivise
