De-laminating side windows

My 2002 37k mile, garaged CL's dual pane door windows are slightly de-laminating around the edges. I am told it's common.
Two questions:

1. Would a slight bead of silicone around the window edges halt the de-lamination?

2.Anyone know what new side windows cost?

There is nothing to do that will fix or slow this process. Some windows get it worse than others.

Replacement windows will do the same thing over time. Its an issue that was never properly addressed nor fixed in future productions.

Mercedes did replace some of these side windows if this happened under the warranty period. The same issued happened again! As a matter of fact some of the new never installed units already had air bubbles starting to delaminate between the glass.

My two Cls did this also a small amount, probably due to the flexing at the laminates edge. Years ago I did some lens bonding, there are adhesives made for this, however I wouldn't recommend any as this stressed area is not likely to react the we would want, remember the designed bond failed. If your willing to accept a possible failure masterbond produces bonding adhesives, also your otc remedies could work, a spot test for a while is prudent. I would not use super glue as it may be too rigid, if you do then a flexible version seems best to me.

Mine is not severe. Can't see it when the windows closed.

I was going to do a test spot with windshield repair resin. I was concerned it may cause the de-lamination to worsen.

One goal is to stop it. The other would be to fill it. I was thinking a smooth slight bead of silicone would prevent moisture from making it worse.

What do you think?

Good ideas; I like your window repair resin thought as its so close to an "exact fit ". Being thats its normal area of use I doubt any delamination concern, the resin mfg probably has tech service advise that may help, cleaning before bonding is always important for best results. Silicone curing doesn't bother much of anything. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Sorry. No dice! There was NO penetration using windshield resin. And that stuff seeps in like penetrating oil. Must be an internal issue.

My advice. Leave it alone.
