CL500 Exhaust - Want some growl

I've looked here but don't really see a discussion about options for giving my CL a bit of growl without spending a small fortune. I don't want it to sound like a Mustang nor do I want to deal with cabin drone on the highway.

There are two cats and a muffler per side. I tried having the mufflers cut off and listened to it (still on the lift) but it sounded a bit loud. My intention was to go straight out the back so it may have quieted it a tad. Maybe I was just being overly cautious?

I'd rather not throw money at having them weld on 10 different replacements for the mufflers until I find something that works.

Just looking to see if someone who has done something reasonably priced that sounds good when you get on it but doesn't drone doing 65.

I think the main question is "a small fortune" and what that means to you. If you're looking to spend about $1500-2000, there are options out there ... and that's pennies compared to $3495 for just mufflers https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...5-sl-65-a.html or nearly $17,000 for a cat-back http://www.renntechmercedes.com/inde...3-coupe-detail

Just deleting mufflers and resonators with straight pipe works well

If you think that will be too loud for you , just delete the resonators

There are no resonators. As I said, two cats and a muffler per side.

Cut the mufflers off and run straight pipe and see how you like the sound

You can always stick a magnaflow muffler back on , they have a nice tone if you think it's too loud

Two cats and muffler each side...but they come together in the middle...is that not a resonator?

I can build you an exhaust if you want. It would be every bit of the quality of any exhaust any company makes for these cars. If you're interested, private message me or TXT 8608979983
