From all the people I have spoken to, no one can confirm in the CL63 or S63 will make it to the US. If it does, I'd expect it to be a couple years at least yet.

Keep in mind however that there are TWO ratings of Octane. I don't remeber them offhand (MON vs RON). We use one here in the U.S., whereas Europe uses the other. Therefore, the Euro 94/97 Octane # is probably like our 91/93 Octane # here in the States.

I really don't think so. The S63/CL63 are going to be like the R129 SL55 and W210 E50, they will only be available in Europe. The S55/CL55 is enough for US customers, the S63/CL63 will be very rare in Europe.

But Art, wouldn't it make at least some sense that there *would* be a demand for the S63/CL63 in America? From various forums and articles I have read, it seems that Europeans invest more towards the smaller-engined cars...whereas in America demand, if not great, at least exists here for the high-end cars. I have seen a few S600s, CL600s, and S55s, and I live in Hawaii(!) to say nothing of you guys on the mainland. Shouldn't the 63s then be directed at some place like America instead of say Europe?
P.S. When was there a R129 SL55? I am aware of an SL73...

Well since AMG is not going to make too many S/CL63's, they think it should just stay in Europe instead of going through the trouble of importing it here (EPA has to approve it, Etc...). I'm in LA and have not seen too many S55's and S600's, so why bring a S63 over? We already have a choice of the S55 and S600. Also the S63 is a "AMG special" not a AMG series model, like the C43 or E55. I think AMG wants to keep it exclusive, because the S55 has already gone mainstream.
I'm not sure what years the SL55 was available, but I think it was a little after the time the E55 was introduced in Europe.
