Power steering rack

Hi guys. Anyone use a reman steering rack part from Detroit axle? My car feels super loose and making bad noises. When I took the under body panes off I saw rubber material that looked like some kind of “boot”. The boot that covers the tie rod is dry and not really protecting anything.

how do I know if I only need bushings?

Please share success stories and where you sourced the part of you did it. Conversely what did your indie charge for this?

Assuming you're talking about the rack bellow, you can find it at the dealer or on ebay. They aren't hard to replace. I would recommend having your indie shake down the front of the car. It's likely your inner tie rods have worn from contamination. The lower ball joins are a common failure and would also cause looseness, clunking and squeaking.
