upcoming purchase opinions....

as most of you know, i have an 01 clk55 amg. my next purchase WILL be a current bodystyle CL- 500,55, or 600 (preferalby the 600)- what can i expect when i make the move up? driving impressions and car feel compared to the clk55? reliability?? it probably won't be brand new- '00 to '04. please feel free to be as detailed as you like. thanks

CL 600 Bi-Turbo
effortless power & surge with the 600.
I have a 600 with full AMG kit & wheels, it goes like stink without any drama.

Incredible torque

The 600 has incredible torque and effortless power. Also quite a bit of weight compared to your CLK, but the ABC helps to mask (not eliminate) this. Quality of materials is a huge step up.

I'd look for an 03 or newer to get the new Nav. I enjoy my '04 500 (but lust after a 600) and I didn't think that the 55 was a big improvement in terms of feel. My wife has an SL600 and the power is effortless and sometimes scary if you're not paying attention to the road. I also know that my next vehicle will be a CL600.

Early CL600s did not hve the twin-turbos. I don't know when they stopped.

You'll find find that it's a B I G step over the CLK. Once you make the leap up, you may find there's no turning back.

thanks, all.. I'm sure it wil be a step up, but i gotta be honest here. my clk 55 is the 1st benz i've ever owned or driven, and in the "piece of crap" thread in the cls forum, alot of cars were compared to "mercedes build quality" (i think someone even posted they would not own a clk. "period") my impressions of benz has been stellar with this car, i had audis and bmw's, and for me, the benz is a very definitive #1. i know the cl will be a MUCH more impressive car, but at the same time, i am so satisfied w/ the clk55, that i (almost) can't imagine another car impressing me more. i will definately test drive 1 when i find the 1 i want, which will probably be the day i buy it. i think the 600 will have what i need......the speed of a '55 amg, but with nicer luxury (although looking at cl55 pics keep me wonder'in....) 1 mre thing, is the non turbo v12 fast, or just a gas guzzler? i know it won't compare to a tt, but how would it fare speed-wise to my current clk55?

I drove a non-turbo CL600 last month. It was very smooth (which for me is the ain reason to buy the V12). I didn't step on it, but it sure felt like it could go. I'd only look for the TT. It's a rush.

2003 CL55 AMG
You won't be impressed with the power of a non turbo V12 (2000-2002) compared to your CLK55. If a V12 is what you want for speed, look for a 2003+ 600 so you get the twin turbo's.

You'll be pleasently suprised with the TT V12. I don't think your CLK will walk away from it.
