I had a Bentley GT. Just got a CL550 sport 2 weeks ago.
I think the CL with the sport kit is much nicer looking. Also handles better and rides unbelivably well with second generation ABC.
if you live with the CL for a few weeks, you would be blown away by the technology and gadgets this car has. Night Vision, rear view camera, MP3, DVD Audio, iPod, voice-activated everything, total customization of each front seat, etc. So much i can't even cover it all here.
Bentley has a lot more power and torque so if that's important then the BGT is better.
I am driving this one and waiting for the CL63.

Which of the 2, find more roomier?

Tough choice. The Cl is probably the roomiest coupe out there, but The GT has some advantages in the looks department, especially over the CL216 (non sport or sport) IMO

i have just seen the CL in person 2 days ago....
probably the only reason u buying the bentley is its name and exclusivity.... other than those, probably you shouldn't even compare this new CL which has such a fine and smooth body and high tech and elegant interior look with a piece of soap which has been in the market for quite a few years already and i m quite sure its not so exclusive anymore.
even if they were launched at the same time, i would definitely go for the CL as well.. even my 2005 SL looks a bit old when compared to this CL...

The interior with all its amenities of the new CL makes the BGT feel ancient. The ride, seat comfort, gadgets just makes this a driving oasis.

2001 Lorinser Edition CL600 (SOLD)
Well, this is a topic I pondered 3 1/2 years ago when it was the old (W215) CL. I wound up going for a pre-owned CL600 with a Lorinser kit when I had a GT on order that I later passed on. I also posted on the W221 forum long ago about comparing the S65 to the Bentley Flying Spur.
I tell you what - if it wasn't for brand dilution and terrible residual value, I would take the CL over the Bentley, however, to compare apples to apples in terms of power, you'd need to step up to the plate with at least a CL63; the 550 doesn't cut it.
Now, here's curve ball: BENTLEY GTC CABRIOLET vs. CL63*.
*There has always been a rumor that a CL cabrio is on its way.

Also, I think the Bentley GT is cosmetically challenged to say the least and as it weighs the same as a Range Rover, it's 550hp is no match for say a stock E55/63.

In a word, bentley. From a financial perspective, the bentley has taken some depreciation already, I can also imagine that it holds its value more since it is exotic. The CL would depreciate the moment you drive off the lot.. Don't know if any of this matters but thats my 2 cents. Plus the GT looks better, is more rare, and did I mention it's a bentley?

From a financial perspective, it definitely matters. In fact, one can finance the GT and have LOWER monthly payments than the CL in a heart beat using www.woodsidecredit.com. But Woodside won't touch Mercs or Bimmers.
CL65 vs. GT - there is no difference in price. But when it comes to exclusivity, brand dilution/residual value, and crowd perception, the Bentley will always win hands down. Again, Mercedes shot themselves in the foot when they went so far down market and made the star all too pedestrian. As someone said before, you can exchange certain parts between a C-class and a Maybach!
It saddens me, because I really like the new S and CL lines much better than the last body style.

Another slug to the Benzo is that this Lorinser kit, regardless of whether it improves the look or not, costs a small fortune to install (about $15K parts and labor - not including rims, of course) and gets zip on resale! To add insult to injury - because it's a love-it-or-hate-it look, the resale market narrows substantially. You try and make an otherwise about-to-become-everyman-look car into something different and unique and you get severely punished for it.
I hate to say it, but, suffering from internal brand dilution and up against stiff competition like never before, Mercedes has fallen down the ranks big time from a value standpoint.
