08 CL600 Blk/Blk (09 C63 traded back- too small) 04 E55 sold
08 CL600 vs CL63
I recently traded my 04 E55 for a new C63 and have strong buyers remorse due to its smaller size. Knowing my disappointment, the dealer is offering me a great deal to trade back in and move up to a CL class.
I drove the CL63 which looks awesome in black/black and AMG perf 20" wheels.
However, as we discussed the deal, the GM offered me a new black/black 2008 CL600 (with IPod and 19" wheels) for a (net) of $14,500.00 less than the CL63! This means in true dollars they are selling the CL600 for about $115K. (152K sticker)
I drove the two cars back to back and they have some distinctly different feels. The most obvious is the torque of the 600 vs the sound, looks, and great 7-speed trans of the CL63.
The "seat of the pants feel" of the 600 was incredible and the car felt faster even though the window sticker claims virtually identical 0-60 times for both.
To further confuse me the GM also offered to install the AMG grill, AMG front fascia, AMG rocker panels for an additional $8,500.00. I would also likely do the ECU/TCU tune.
I know that the ideal car would be the 08 CL65, but the price is too high for my situation.
Does anyone here know why the CL600's are at such a deep discount? I saw elsewhere that MB may be updating the V12 TT in the near future and that they may drop the CL name in favor of an S type designation?
Since I bought the C63 impulsively and now regret my purchase, I did not want to jump again without asking for advice. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't hesitate, grab the CL600 w/AMG body-kit they offered to install for you, if you still want rumble in exhaust do the Cheap EZ muffler cut-out & run 3" straight pipes sounds like a demon good luck but w/those options it's a NO brainer 600 all-the way..

Thanks for the advice!
I signed up for the car and will take it Friday.
Once the AMG parts are in and painted I will drop it off to be updated.
Once completed I will post some pics!
I can't wait!

Several MB's Superperformance MK III Cobra
I recently looked at a "new" 2007 CL600 at the local dealer with 110 miles and never registered. They would accept $89,000 for the car and $9,000 for the HRE wheels that were on the car. The rub was what they offered for my SL55 with 8,300 miles on it; insulting at best. The CL600's are a hard car to move and the depreciation bears this out. I have a CL55 and the prices are horrible. These cars are for a particular kind of buyer and have limited appeal. Personally I truly like them but I guess I am one of the limited buyers.

@SL2003driver,
because over here in Europe we have to pay taxes and all of this sh*t on our cars. In Holland a stock CL500 costs 164.000 Euro's (w/o options). That is 221.000 dollar. A CL65 in Holland costs 318.000 euro's = 429.490 dollar (w/o any options). The most expensive Mercedes Benz ( A SLR 722S Roadster of Maybach 62 Landaulette) are 671.000 euro's (= 906.252 dollar) and 733.000 euro's (= 989.989 dollar). So when you look at the prices of a US Maybach 62S or a SLR 722S, you will see we are actually screwed in Europe.

By the way, 88.000 dollar is approx. 65.000 euro's, for that money we could buy a new 2010 E350 Coupe CDi Blue Efficiency w/o any options. Allright, it's also a wonderfull looking coupe, but I'd rather drive a CL for that money.

Thanks for the reply, that is crazy unfair for you guys. I bought my "new" CLS63 AMG with the 030 performance package that listed for $113,000 USD and I bought it new from the dealer for $80,000 last July. Is the taxes you guys are paying on cars a value added tax?

No, the taxes are for the government, which they decide how much you have to pay. Here are the things you will have to pay for: MPG of the car (is it fuel economic?), the weight of the car (for a Civic or what you have to pay less then a CL), to maintain the roads and that sort of things. And for that 80.000 dollar you've paid for your lovely CLS63 AMG, we have to spare an extra 145.600 dollar. W/o the 030 package and any other nice options. I'm actually not that good in English, so may I have answert your question not good, you may ask it again! (Y)
