Thinking about getting CL600, Advise?

Thinking of purchasing 07 Cl600 with CL65 Front end and 20 Amg wheels. 40k miles, trying to find an extended warranty before I make the final decision.

Any advise on the reliability of the car and/or the V12.

I am also considering a CPO M5.

The cars are pretty reliable, but don't let the depreciation fool you: they are expensive to maintain. Even with a warranty, there won't be any $20 oil changes in your future.

Thanks for the reply, I was not expecting to take it to Jiffy Lube
My Range Rover is a Maintenance hog so I am use to it.

Congrats! Do you still need a warranty?

Not much activity on the W215/216 forums, I'm afraid.

Congrats! I've had my CL600 for a couple of years now and love it. Had many other fun toys before including W211 E55, C6 Z06, Viper GTS, and for the power/looks/comfort, it's hard to beat.

Also dropped my car off at Speedriven a week ago for the ECU + TCU + CM30 intercooler pump upgrade. Always looking for more power...you will be too eventually, I'm sure.

I just got back from test-driving a CPO 2008 CL600 w 35k miles. Asking is 75k and they want 4.5k for an extra 2 years of warranty (for a total of 3 extra years).

Do you guys know if the ABC system is included in MBs extended warranty?
Also I saw on the CarFax that the rear seat cushion had been replaced at 7k miles. Do you have any idea of why someone would need that done?

I wish mine was a CPO, bought the aftermarket waranty the MB Dealer suggested for 4.5K 3/36. Currently at the dealer fixing an ABC issues and other minor items.

No clue on the seat. I have been in the back a lot over the last few days setting up the toddler seat.

So the ABC repairs you're having done is covered by your aftermarket warranty? What company did they recommend for the extended warranty?

No it is still under the factory waranty. I will have to look at the company name for the extended Service Contract. It was the only one the dealer sells and recommends and only the dealer is going to touch this car.

How ironic. I think you bought my old CL. Does your VIN end with 7055?

Hi! No, however, I did added the front AMG grille--I thought it looked sportier than the original one. The next owner/dealer must have done the other stuff (AMG spoiler and wheels). Other than the grille, I added the illuminated door sills in stainless steel and LED license plate lamps. I included a set of LED fog lamps in the glove box. The original door sills and lamps should be in the trunk/glove box. I replaced the rear brakes in October 2010, and the rear tires at 47K miles. (I have an extra set of OEM 18" V12 wheels and Michelin tires if interested--I was going to save them for my next CL600.) I traded-in the car in December 2010 for a 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I miss the CL. There were some minor demons with it...if you are interested in knowing. All in all, it was a great car and I would get another. I was commuting from SF to Dallas over the last 4 months and only last week realized that it was for sale in that market (at Earth Motors, if I am not mistaken).

Here is what it looked like last October before trading it in. I wonder what they did with the previous wheels/tires? Did they include them in the sale?

Not included in the sale and nothing in the trunk. The dealer I bought from told me they added the wheels and front bumper, but I did not believe them.

I did not notice the grille was different, just had to go look. Very nice.

Nice install on the sills as well. Haven't found any demons yet, glad you said minor though. I noticed the brakes, hope you miss typed the miles, it only had 39k when i bought it. Based on the car fax it looks like it was passed to a few dealers since December, so I got a real good deal on it.

How is the Cayenne. I traded in my Range Rover Sport, so this is quite driving change.

Yes, sorry, I meant 37K (I traded the car in at 38.9K miles). If you don't mind what did you mean by "good deal"? The Porsche dealer gave me $50K on trade. The Cayenne is wonderful. It drives like a sports car--very flat and minimal yaw change around tight turns. BTW, I had a new driver armrest on order under warranty as the paint was chipping near where you would grab it to close the door, but never had the time to bring it back to the dealer to replace. Also, have them check the Distronic/Parktronic. During colder conditions a warning light would come on indicating that the Distronic was being deactivated. I also had the mapping software of the Navi system upgraded with the updated 8.1 version DVD.

Paid around 53k plus a fair trade amount on my RRS. Not much cold weather anytime soon in Dallas. Nice to know the nav was updated. Not sure if there is a newer version.

You got a great deal! I have been looking for a replacement and most are listed at higher than $59K. Enjoy your new CL. I think it is stealth and more sophisticated than a CL65... and gets a lot of stares. There is something mystical about a Mercedes "600" irrespective of the model (but the CL coupes more so).
