Just installed the new 16 HERE Navigation update!
What a massive difference. Every single road now is current and shows up and now everything shows up for the POI's. Happy Happy Happy. Took exactly 75 minutes as stated on the disc. They are a one time use disc and a one time code per VIN. Very cheap and easy to do. I paid 150.00 for everything at my discount and no tax. This works on MY 10-13 S and MY CL 10-14.

I've just bought a beautiful 2007 "Launch Edition" CL550 in Designo Mocha black - looks new! Wondering how I can tell how old my map data is - and whether I need to update it. Anyone?

I can assure you it hasn't been updated. Go on mbonline.com and the disc. It will bring 9 years worth of new updates. Well worth the nominal amount they are asking.

Go to the site, then go to mechanical parts then click CL 600 because it has a 2006 year default. At the bottom type in the search bar Q6460340. Click on buy now. When you get it, just follow the directions on the inside jacket.

2007 S550V4 2001 S430 (Sold) 1976 450 SL
With a 2007, the whole Command may have to be updated, not just a new nav cd. The original didn't have "Bird's Eye View" etc. Ck. to insure the base has been updated, prior to tweaking w/ new POI's, road etc. My two cents.
And, as an aside, if you pay the hundreds to update the Command, make sure it doesn't muck up your AC compressor. I pd. for an update, spring came, AC was kaput, no cold. Faults said bad compressor and other hardware. Spent over a grand chasing this, only to find the Command update broke the communication to the AC.
Dlrshp. ran diagnostic, reprogrammed things and the AC was fine.
I piddled away a doggone grand and time for no reason other than the Command update messed communication up.
Welcome to MB.

MY 11 CL550
What's the part number I need for a MY 11 CL550?
I just called the dealer and was told the CD is 83 dollars, but I need the activation code which is another 203 dollars. Comes to over 300 with tax, and he believes it has to be done in the shop which probaby will be at least an hour of labor. No way I'm paying over 400 dollars for this lol.
So if anyone can tell me the process (what part number I need from that website and how to get the activation code or if it comes with it) please let me know.
Thanks!

Disc Q6460441 36.00 and activation Code 0000004200 147.20. All for $183.20. That was my price as I have a resale number and don't pay retail or tax. Do not allow them to bully you into having service do it. Tell them your taking it to another dealer who is doing it for you for much less. Do not back down. Make them sell it to you as they can not refuse you. Buy it at the Parts counter with your VIN in hand and if they give you a hassle ask to speak to the Parts Manager and if he gives you a hassle ask to speak to the Manager of the dealership. You don't have to use service to do the update. The instructions are on the inside of the jacket of the disc and it is VIN specific and only good for your car and cant be passed around.

MY 11 CL550
yeah nobody is helping me out. This other dealer just said 96 for CD and 300 for activation code. Where are you? I'm in South Florida. Would be very appreciative if you could help me out here lol.
Looks like all dealers are throwing random prices at me.

Congratulations on your new car? By chance, did you purchase your vehicle from a dealer in Illinois?

Go into you menu and it will give you the version and date. I'm almost positive you need the latest update and most people (other than the original owners) are to cheap to spring for an updated disc.

Command & navigation updates
I recently purchased a 2012 CL550 - 4Matic. Great car with tons of options. However, it appears that the Command system and Navigation maps have never been touched since the car was new in Oct 2011. NTG3.5 COMAND® North America - V14.0 for $249 on mb.navigation.com seems to be the only thing I have found - and it is for 2015/2016. Is that the only option I have? $249 for maps that are 2 years old doesn't seem like a very good idea. Additionally, if there are any COMMAND system updates - I assume that would not be addressed in the Navigation updates. Greatly appreciate any advise or suggestions from the forum. I have heard the discs are programmed for a one time use on a particular VIN - is that correct? I have navigation disc from my 2009 SL550 - but that was a NTG2.5 unit - they did not seem to work.

I was a little miffed by the comment - "its only a 550". But anyway - to each his own. The CL600 is a great car - just a little more power and insurance cost that I wanted to deal with. I drive mine nearly every day so I will probably do 10k per year. The previous owner did 32k in 5 years. Thanks for the info on the updates. I agree, it would be easier just to use my smart phone and Google maps. That way I never have to worry about being out dated. Thanks again for your reply.
