Opinions on purchase 07-cl600
Hi I am a newbie but I just finished school and want to treat myself to a luxury sports car. I have been eyeing up the c63 and e63 models. This car came along and from what I read is very luxurious and sporty.
i have looked at a few websites as I was hoping to get the e or c63 and then do someengine mods to get the power up there. I have found much for the cl600 v12 twin turbo.
so my question is that engine and car not great for modding and getting more power out of it. The 63 models seem to be good up to about 700hp with out to much internal reworking. Ithe weistech website has lots of options for other mb cars just not this one so it made me wonder.

Keep in mind that these vehicles were over $150,000 when new and repairs can easily be several thousand dollars. Some of the high depreciation in value is due to the high cost of repairs once things start to fail. As an example, this vehicle may soon need to have the ignition coil packs replaced at a cost of over $2000.
The air bladders in the front seats fail after 7 to 10 years. Repair of the passenger seat alone can easily cost $5000. That is what my extended warranty company paid a couple of years ago.
If you are not prepared for these expenses, this is NOT the vehicle for you!

Understood thanks for the tips, but I am more asking about the v12 twin turbo is it a good engine, most of what I have read says it smooth and quiet. And the cl models have great luxury options, the massaging seats as you mentioned, dynamic suspension as well. I found a cl55 amg 4matic, it is further away from me (the cl600 is local) similar Km's but 10g cheaper, is the amg options that much better than the base package for performance and handling.

How much exactly can you spend? I have a CL600 2006 that has been very good. 49,000 miles. Its not a C216 but a CL600 is a CL600. Cost of ownership is high because its a premium car. V12's drink gas too

They are amazing cars, when they work, but can be quite expensive to keep 100%.
The engines mechanically are very stout, almost never give serious problems. The coils are a well known issue, but usually it's a one time replacement after 10 years, and the new ones will probably last the rest of the car.
