Whining noise at 2000rpm
Heres a video
The replacement part was £900 and the labour was £1100 (it is about 9 hours labour).
I would get it looked at soon (if you haven't already).

I ask because I changed my dampener 6yrs and 80k miles ago. The sound back then was very different. I find it hard to believe that it would be that again. If it is, I would be the first on these forums to have replaced it twice in one ownership.. a true wear item!
A few days later he called me and told me about the fluid, changed it and the noise was gone. These are very sensitive cars with lots of problems....

This sound is more subtle though and I think when the dampner goes, it goes completely and is much louder.
Hopefully OP responds because we are having the exact same noise at the exact same rpm/engine conditions.

I'm taking it in to my shop next week to find out... As I've already spent $6,000 this year "reconditioning" this 2008 to be mechanically gorgeous, my mechanic has declared me "in it to win it.." which I think means there is NO WAY I could ever sell this car and recoup any loss LOL
.Praying to fix it for $1,000 or less... "Pray with me Forrest, pray!"

I was leery on adding any additive to the ABC system however after 15k or so mile I haven't had any adverse effects. I've been running that stuff in my '07 SL550 and noticed an immediate positive difference in the suspension with the raising and lowering is lightning fast.

Odd part is, I already replaced the front accumulator almost 3yrs ago to the day. I guess it was getting tired already.
