2007 Rear Sunshade Question

My rear window sunshade is not activating. Can someone tell me if it is electric, hydraulic or something else? My dynamic seat function is not working and I suspect that I have a leak. If the dynamic seat circuit has a leak, would it affect the sunshade's operation? Thanks

I had the same problem of my rear sunshade not working and found out that if I had someone push the button while I was in the back seat and pulled up on the sunshade it all of a sudden started to work.

That sounds like a good idea. I can hear something back there when I try to extend/retract. WIll try tomorrow.

Try to push the button few times...sometimes my doesn't work at 1st pressure, I have to push it again. It's electric I confirm.

Mine is crazy a bit, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, until recently I tried something (doesn't sound relevant at all) that somehow made it work whenever it decide not to work.
There should a button that drops the back seats head rest (which doesn't work on mine btw) , I press that and hold it for like 20 seconds (I think it might be resetting something), after that rear shade works fine.

Crazy, isn't it?

I was fully prepared to start removing the rear seats, headrests, and deck and then disassemble the motor for the rear sunshade for my 2003 W211 E55.

I searched for the W211 instructions to do all of that (which I’ve seen on the forum before).

….and I found this post…AND IT FREAKING WORKED!!!

Thank you so much!

I hope you intentionally quoted my answer lol, if thats the case then this is great news! I mean despite how it works in the background but at least it worked 😂

Most probably it's confirmed then -as I read before- that it resets something.

Yes, it was your 20s push of the headrest-drop button that did it.

I have no idea how or why it worked...but it did.

How did you discover this?

Well, it was pure coincidence, I was actually searching for why the headrest-drop isn't working in my car, and someone was suggesting doing this 20 seconds thing as it resets something.
Then, and here's the interesting part, after that I pressed on the favorite button next to the headrest one by mistake (there's a small button with an asterisk that you can save a favorite action on), and guess what, it was saved to the rear sunshade action 😂 and it worked!!
I was freaking happy, then realized the relation here.

Now whenever the sunshade decides not to work, I just do that 20s thing and it works after.

Well, your happy accident helped me, too! Thanks!
