The owner of the Ruf GT2 took the rear wing off and managed to crack 202mph in the 1.5 mile distance, 10mph more than my CL65 did. However with the wing on top speed is 195, 196mph, not too far away from my 192mph in the limited distance.
Still a good amount of distance between the two cars, but he recons with his wing in place, a 730bhp CL (or SL, but CL is more aerodynamic than SL) would be faster.
Will see nextime as by then i'll also have the CF airbox and another ECU tweak

More Video too please!!!
where did you guys do this? It looks like an airport....
Stopping is the harder part, and these runs have started to crack the giant AMG disks on the front.
We do this at (from memory) and old US Air Force base in the UK, which has a 2 mile very wide runway, 1.5 mile (maybe a bit more) run with a .5mile stopping distance.

Hi Adam.
Why did you not bring the 211 mph CTR monster and the M5 as well.
Is you new RUF running stronger now than when it got beat by CTR?
As much as I love your new RUF, it is something about the CTR that makes it to me even more impressive.
The CL is one fast coupe as well.
Do you have more videos somewhere ?
The little Yellowbird was at a big Motorshow in London called MPH 05, and was on the EVO magazine stand. I think if it had been there it would have recorded a 197 or 198mph speed

The R turbo has always felt strong, now it has 55,000km on it, and it feels still like new even though it has been run really really hard

I took my Alpina B8 and had some very fun races against an S4 V8 with 380bhp, my car was comprehensively quicker, around 8-9 car lengths from 60kmh to 250kmh! Also i raced an E36 M3 Evo, and the Alpina was much stronger. Alot of fun!
Great cars

BTW: I read in another post linking to this video that the CL65 was modified by Klemann. Do you know if that is true.

I guess you proved me wrong then
Have that on video by any chanse, would be great to see!
BTW: I just notived that a delimited M5 was participation, how did it do and what car did it go up against?

I have a 996TT that has a full stage 4 upgrade:approx 630hp, very similar to to the Ruf.
I raced a buddy of mine who has an SL65 RennTech with a CF airbox that makes almost 990 lb/ft and 725hp. At the end of the 1/4 mile he ran 11.2 (with a super launch) and the 996 ran 11.7 (with a mediocre launch) we both trapped at 123. If we ran the 1/2 mile I would have caught him and passed him and he would have been watching my tailights get smaller until 200mph. The SL65 weighs less than the CL65. With that being said, there is hardly any regular production car that can hang with the MB TT V-12s from a dead dig, way too much low end torque.
Here is the detail of that race.
RennTech, do you really think that you can give an unrestricted SL/CL65 a half second lead and then fly by it at the half mile point. I would love to see that. I have always thought that the 65 weakest point is the quarter, and everything after that is no mans land for almost everyone.
It seems to me that my 996's weakest point is the 1/4 also. After studying my few races with my buddy's 65 vs. my 996, it always ended up that I started closing the gap, the faster we got. I think it's safe to say, no matter what we would both be passing everything, but a gas station

The Texas Mile, in Goliad, TX, isn't too far from you. I think tech is a little relaxed compared to Bonneville or the other land speed racing venues.
