Ruf RTurbo v CL65 AMG to 188MPH

Had two races with a Ruf R Turbo on Sunday at the air field, and captured the video.

The Ruf is an awesome piece of kit and sounds every bit as nice as it looks.
We completed a standing start where the 4 wheel drive Ruf had the advantage, and a rolling 60 mph start.

My top trap speed of the day was 192mph over the 1.5 mile distance.

The video speaks for itself...

Enjoy!

Generally i think the bet is around 3000rpm and just release the clutch. Car does the rest lol

I dont necessarily dump the clutch though...

The trouble with the 4WD is you can get really bad chassis hop, this happens if you put too much power down.

But i think in this video i got the launch just right(thank god ) but i hit the limiter in 1st (you can hear it )

all the best

The Ruf parts are really:

PSS9 suspension (with Ruf settings)
Ruf Brakes (grooved Brembos basically)
Turbos(modified KKK 24's), Intercooler, Clutch, Ruf Intake Manifold, Sport Airfilter, Handmade Exhaust
Fully Intergrated Rollcage(cant see it) Covered in Alcantara
Ruf short shift
Ruf Guages
Ruf Aero (CF Wing, Front Spoiler, NACA ducts)
Wheels
Ruf Vin

all the best

Not necessarily true.

I have a 996TT that has a full stage 4 upgrade:approx 630hp, very similar to to the Ruf.

I raced a buddy of mine who has an SL65 RennTech with a CF airbox that makes almost 990 lb/ft and 725hp. At the end of the 1/4 mile he ran 11.2 (with a super launch) and the 996 ran 11.7 (with a mediocre launch) we both trapped at 123. If we ran the 1/2 mile I would have caught him and passed him and he would have been watching my tailights get smaller until 200mph. The SL65 weighs less than the CL65. With that being said, there is hardly any regular production car that can hang with the MB TT V-12s from a dead dig, way too much low end torque.

Here is the detail of that race.

Yeah and what I am wondering, is how that torque is put to the pavement so well without an LSD even, on tires that are not outrageously wide. Basically you have all that torque going through one wheel... it should be up in flames...

We also had a Ruf GT2 with the 630bhp Nardo engine, and whilst very quick at speeds upto 190mph the downforce on the Porsche's is too great to crack 200mph.

The owner of the Ruf GT2 took the rear wing off and managed to crack 202mph in the 1.5 mile distance, 10mph more than my CL65 did. However with the wing on top speed is 195, 196mph, not too far away from my 192mph in the limited distance.

Still a good amount of distance between the two cars, but he recons with his wing in place, a 730bhp CL (or SL, but CL is more aerodynamic than SL) would be faster.

Will see nextime as by then i'll also have the CF airbox and another ECU tweak
