I'm supposed to get the first CL65 from my dealer and these pics really give me the creeps.
It looks very Toyota like, wimpy, bland and appliance like.
I do hope the final version,or at least the AMG ,looks much, much better than this.

I loved the first CLK,the current one left me cold from day one and did not improve in my eyes since.
Current CL was a masterpiece from the first pic and still, even at the end of production,is just that.
Bad direction for MB Coupes styling ,in my humble opinion....

Agree that styling looks weak in pics...but I found S-Class looked much better in real-life w/darker colors and 19" wheels than did pics.....have an S550LE to play w/for few mths until I get S65 on release....and plan to move from S65 into CL65 when it's released.....

Even if styling's not great....need to have a blk/blk 65 in stable....can't think of any car in world to carry more than two people in ultimate safety, comfort and w/various technologies for aud/nav, etc that simply are 5yrs ahead of everyone else....as I've joked w/many, the new S-Class (and CL) are simply the quintessential cars showcasing SiliconValley's tech impact on cars.....every major VC/tech guy in MenloPark/SiliconValley will need to have latest tech version of CL to replace their prior version of the CL55/65 workhorse, no matter the styling...

Plus, given the amazing perf AMG's software imparted to the handling of the 4600lb SL65, I'm eager to see what AMG's next-gen of ABC/ESP/SpeedShift software; new brake techs; and poss tighter steering (I hated sloppy steering feel of prior S/CL65; liked SL65 steering feel) means in terms of overall driving sharpness.....and 740lb-ft prob means an ability to casually exploit gaps in freeway traffic w/50-120MPH accel that only 997TT or 599 can rival.....

ummm these are not the final pics

These guys got edited pics and its not just some tape removal. A lot of those angles for the body and lights are not right. Just check out the pics of the real taped up one. These guys did a bad job photoshoping it. The taped up one looks far better than this crap.

Hi everyone, i would just want to confirm that THIS IS NOT the 2007 CL! i have seen the picture it was shown to me by a friend, you can tell if you see the back of the car it does not have the break lights on the trunk where as in the spy pictures it showed that it did have a break light, plus the new CL has fenders like the S-Class

I hope you like this attachment and it will make a difference

a few...
Thank you for that salvation picture. Those first ones are absolutely horrendous. Talk about not only a bad PS but just bad taste in general. What are we buying Toyotas and Hondas now at MB? At least this recent pic keeps the same roof profile as the old, just with Sclass revised bumpers and grille treatment. I can live with that one.

YUCK!

Definitely hope this will be changed fast. It looks like a Honda Accord or Toyota Solara.

I am sure the real car will look much better than those photos. Also, an AMG package will do wonders to the looks of the car, just as it has the S-Class.

Same here. I was going to get the new "S" or maybe the new "CL", but now I am going to try an "SL" for a few years. Beside the lack of esthetics (IMO) on the S550 amd probably the CL550, I think I'll also be safer with the quality of the "SL".

2003 CL55
The current body CL55/65 is likely to be a classic IMO, but the new MB designs leave me cold, including the various pics of the new CL. What are they thinking? They are copying the styling cues of too many Japanese cars. BTW, the new Lexus LS does look like a major improvement over past models and may well be stylistically and dynamically better than the new S class, especially when they get the hybrid LS 4WD out later this year. I sold my 03 CL55 last fall and will get the new Audi S8 in Oct. The CL55 was an elegant, comfortable and dynamically very impressive car. I just like Quattro for the weather in Boston more than rwd. In the past 6 years I have owned a 2000 CLK 430, a 2002 CL500 Sport, a 2003 SL500 Sport and the 03 CL55. It is highly unlikely that I will return to Mercedes any time soon.
