New Cl In Dubai

Check these pics out. it the new CL with AMG package. i really dunno who owns this car but sooner or later will find out. i have heard that the new cl will cost around $150,000 if not more. i bet that this car will sell for more since its going to be the first in UAE. looking at the rear side of the car iam not quite satisfied with the back headlights as it draws the shape of a hyundai in my mind. who cares as long as the star exist in this car then i think its more then enough. just can't wait to see the CL63

Why is it a CL500? Aren't the new ones 550's? Am I missing something?

In almost all parts of the world, it is a CL500, they just know how we Americans are about a new model, it has to be NEW! I even like the rear as well, I just think the turn signals should have been horizontal like traditional MB.

I don't think you become a super power by being stupid, I'm glad you have an opinion, too bad there's millions of people who would disagree!

I'm not American but the new 500 (S,CL,SL and CLS) is named in the US; 550. The engine is an 5,5 litre so 550 is a better name than 500 in my opinion. But MB (and also BMW) don't really look to the contents of the engine any more! But 550 is a better name and make more sense than 500!

The 600 is an 5,5 litre, the 65 is an 6 litre......

By the way, a very nice car that new CL!

Mercedes nomenclature bounces between purity and marketing. Remember the 450SEL 6.9? Purity pretty much went out the window when they put "class" first in names. They got tired of people calling 500 SELs "500"s. It made it hard to market the other top-of-the-line cars with 5-liter engines.

When I got my 2001 S55 my mother, the expert in Florida, was disappointed that I didn't get a "500" like her friend's son. You can argue that people should be better educated on the cars if they purport to care, but not naming cars logically with displacement is the cause of much confusion, and there's nothing wrong with MB moving back towards it in the US.

I wouldn't say it blows the CLS away, but it sure is shapely/gorgeous.

Definitely wrong. The CLS is the best looking Benz ever. The rear end of the CL completely desqualifies it from that race. Acura RL anyone??

Wow, the back really does look like an Acura...still, I don't want to make judgement till I see it in person. I remembered the first time I saw the new S class back and I thought it was ugly. Now, a couple of months later I just helped my mom get a new S550. So, we still must wait to see it in person.

Those who were at the AMG meet, how did the new CL look in person? (I'm trying to be optimistic)

I was under the impression that MB was going to change the name to 550 all over the world, that with every new body style, they adjust the digits according to the engine style even if the engine later on is upgraded and the body still the same. Don't really know why it was a 550 in the US only. But I'd rather they be called200 (4 cylinders), 300 (6 cylinders) , 500 (8 cylinders), 600 (12 cylinders), etc especially since now the 350, 550 is kinda resembling BMW's naming and tagging. (althought the 350 sounds nicer than the 300, while the 550 is too close to a 600 that's why it is better off being a 500, heheh).

Re the way the CL looks, it always looked weird if you looked at in anything but a wholistic manner.... (i think the door is too short for the body)
but it grows on you as a classy ride, be it perfect looking or not, and that's what the CL's all about in my opinion, it gives you the feeling that you should dress up to get in.
