2007 CL550 at dealers
Saw the 2007 CL550 at my local dealer in Flint Grey.
Interior is incredible. Very nice.
Exterior, well... Looks like a Hyundai !
I am reserving judgment of the exterior until I can at least see one with the AMG sport kit or when the AMG hits next year.
Big disappointment. Some of the employees at the dealership expressed the same disappointment.

As far as the interior ... beautiful, but I got issues with them messing with the gear selector form factor that has been in place since the auto was invented.
You nailed it with the Hyundai reference ... even if I do like the car when I get a chance to see it in the flesh, there are too many Asia Pacific car company styling references (or American car company mimicing a Japanese car company). Is it a Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, Mazda RX-8, Hyundai ?? Most non-car guy folk don't know what a CL is to begin with ... Mercedes wants to make that situation worse ???
I find people in my inner circle that would never spend six-figures on a car goading me into getting a CL550. Maybe that reflects Mercedes' target market for the CL550 -> people who would never spend six-figures on a car but live vicariously though those who do.

I forgot to mention the CL550 had a $30,000 markup over MSRP.
I told them they would need to at least give me $30,000 off MSRP to consider it. The front end reminds me of a Dodge Durango with the weird fender/hood squared off fitment.
Mercedes hit the nail on the head with the 2007 S-Class, but definitely missed the design on the 2007 CL Class.

I think the car looks amazing, outside and inside. Nothing else like it is on the road. Now what dealer is this? Charging 30K over MSRP is ridiculous.

After seeing the Carlsson tuned CL, I think there's plenty of hope for this car. The large fender flares just beg for a fat wheel/tire combo. The factory 18s and even 19s don't do it justice.

Saw CL550 at LA dealership. I was told that this car has low residual and therefore the lease on this car is outrageous. I was told that I will have to pay $2500/mo for 36 months for this car. I pay $2100 for CL55 right now. Doesn't make any sense

I saw a bunch of them today....silver with AMG package....Grey with 20's...all 20k on top of MSRP. Badass car but could have been designed a little bit better exterior wise....but not ugly and on 22's lowered etc. these will be mean as hell. In a few months these will be at MSRP and in a year at invoice.

in stock form in a non-amg package, the car is lacking in the looks department. slap a kit on, it will look good. acutally, if you slap a kit on any mb car it looks good. it's sad you have to spend 5k to make it look good when it's a 100k car.
