W215 CL55 (How wide can you go?)
Basically wanted to ask what is the widest wheel/tire combo you can go on a CL55. I'm interested in having the rear of the car look fat with the rear tires

For example can you put 19x10.5 and go 295 rears? I would prefer to stay 245/255 in the fronts. Please post some of your setups too.
Also what is the widest tires you can go on stock wheels, can you push 285 rears? Thanks.

1. Poor man's ring and pinion change, and
2. It buys me just a little more safety factor if the ABC sags or if it were to fail.

I wouldn't go with anything larger than 10" and or a 295 tire. A 10" rim with a 285 tire is a perfect fit.

I really question these words of wisdom. I tried what you are saying with 305's on my car and it was rubbing on the inside hydraulic shock and stuck out almost an inch outside the fender. It would have taken a 2" fender flare to get the 305's and 11" rims on my CL without rubbing or effecting the suspension travel. Just because you can get them in the tire well it doesn't mean they fit the car.

Rubbing: Some, but my car is lowered about 1/5". Happens more (maybe once every 4 miles or so) on freeway undulations at high speed where I believe the car lowers itself more. This can be remedied by raising the car with the active suspension. I normally do this when I have passengers, because they are not used to the occasional rubbing like I am. For low driveway entrances, I just hit the button to raise the car as I pull up, drop the car back down as soon as I am in. No problems.

If one could get a 295 on a 19x9.5 with the CL65 ET, there is a chance it could work.
I'm currently getting these rims fitted with 295/30/19 rear, 275/30/19 fronts, will have pics of both the 305 setup and 295 setup soon.
These tires I reference are a bit shorter by 3/4 inch than stock, as the camber changes they tuck in.
