I know of someone with a 2003 CL55 w/ 90k miles... Car looks pretty clean, but has a few usual scratches associated with a car thats been driven 90,000 miles.. No warranty.. 1 owner lease car, well maintained, no wrecks.. Bumper was painted once for rock chips..

What is this car worth?? Im talking wholesale dollars here.. What would be a "steal" for this car... Not really in the market for a CL, but would pick it up, if the numbers were right..

He has given me an "asking" price. But wanted to hear opinions before I reveal that.. thanks

25 was my thought as well.
Not so sure about the 25 in service costs but MNM5 could be right.

One significant engine repair and it could be salvage time. You're gambling with 25K.

Have not heard of any stories on the 55s or 65s with mileage in excess of 50K. Maybe these AMGs are really built well or then have not been around long enough to learn what happens during old age.

Manheim MMR prices it around 30kish. There was one sold that had 88k miles, below average condition, went for $30k. The next one was 55k miles, sold for $39k.

Really depends on the car. Have it inspected by a dealer. If it comes clean, may be worth low 30's.

Next time when asking about prices, ask someone that has real information!

He asked for opinions - not real information.
I'm hoping that someone asks for an opinion on achieving world peace.

I think I might win the Highest Milage AMG Award. Ive got 196k on my 2000 ML55 and counting. I use it almost everyday. I heard the ML55 is the one of the worst AMG's made. It still pulls tho. I went with a bmw 335 Coupe yesterday and either he couldnt drive or I was just faster. Im guessing he couldnt drive tho. Anyways. Its lasted this long. and I have gone through the same old wear and tear items. and a few things went wrong but that was becuase of me.

30's sounds right. There likely aren't many out there with that many miles, so who knows what may happen. However, people don't lower the price of cars because it might cost alot to fix. You either can afford to drive it or you can't. That's like saying you might see a used Gallardo for $50k because the engine is probably $40k if you blow it. That isn't how it works obviously.

This is incredible . Maybe we should start of forum on those "Over the Hill AMGs".

My gut feeling of high performance engines are they only are good up to a certain point, lets say 50K mi. After that, the wear and tear takes away the performance and the engine repairs begin.

You proved me wrong.

this is a good topic for the AMG Private Loung Forum.

thanks Berman. I beat on it every day and its still alive. Yeah it burns oil and what not but i cant part with it. I guess I was lucky. What im trying to say is that if this one lasted this long Im sure any other AMG can last just as long. Maybe even longer if driven properly.

Mine has some mileage to go with 7K on it now. I was considering a CL65 with 30K on it and how much is really left. It would probably outlive me.

I have a 03 CL55 I drive it everyday and currently it has 52800 mile on it and it runs perfect except the suspension issues that plague CL's. I also drove it out to Miami last Feb. Cars are meant to be driven not parked...

Nonsense - All public information shows that the AMG engines are built to closer tolerances than are any other Benz's. The internal components are of higher quality (ie. forged pistons) so they "should" be able to last much longer than a non-AMG. They have more power driven through them but (as we've seen with the KLEEMAN and Renntech upfits), these engines are already well overbuilt for the standard AMG requirements. As with ANY high-end car, the repair cost out of warranty are $$$'s (I had a 1997 740iL with 100K miles and was warned that the compressor for the A/C goes out in those cars around 125K @ a cost of around $2,500 so I dumped (wholesale) it before it had the chance to give me any problems at all). Likewise with the S-class (non AMGs) and their air ride suspension... $'s out of warranty. The AMG will have those same issues but the engine IMHO should be less of a concern than in a "standard" car.

Wholesale? Maybe $27k. It will retail for low-mid 30s unless you find an impulse buyer who loves the look and isn't aware of the maintenance cost. Then you could hit a home run at high 30s retail.
