At least it has the 'nicer' double spoke wheels.

Wow, I guess it someone could sell it, Catena could. Those wheels have so little rubber, that customer is going to be back in the shop every other week with a blown out tires on our lovely NJ roads.

Mercedes-Benz has a GE Wheel & Tire Protection Program, which warrants any damages to the wheels and tires. I would assume the buyer who purchased the car also has enough money (and brains) to invest in that program. For regular, non-AMG vehicles, I believe it is alittle over $1K... maybe be a tad bit more for that CL65 40th

Yeah, I know they don't have to worry about it from a money standpoint. I was just pointing out how bad our roads are for that kind of car.

That seems like a lot for the wheel/tire insurance. How long does it cover everything?

Have CL63 030 w/those wheels/tires.....seem to do OK on bumpy SF city streets (after 5K mis of use; have several pals w/CL63 030 who also have had no problems despite use in similar conds)....suspect factory-spec 20" stuff is more robust than in yrs past (recall back in '98 when NYC region dealers would advise custs to avoid then-large 17" wheels to avoid wheel deformation issues)....tech keeps advancing....

Suspect any Catena cust who lives in ShortHills/Harding Twp and just drives around upscale suburban NJ (w/minimal exposure to Manhattan's gruesome roads) will do OK in terms of tire/wheel survival (lots of guys in places like Greenwich live/work there, so have no need to drive into the car hell known as NYC....just rent an S550 and driver if need to go into Manhattan anyway)......but suspect any perf tire is suboptimal once temps are <45F, no matter how smooth are roads....

And perf tires need replacement after about 10K mis anyway......so tire/wheel insurance programs are sucker games....sort of like extended warranties....or this 40thAnniv car.......

It covers 5 years/60,000 miles for $955+ tax... Not bad, right?

Yea Russia is rough... New car customs are a big punch in the face.. Buy a 3 year old car and pay per cubic centimeters though..

True, most suburban roads around here are nice. But many of the major highways and some of the more main routes are not so nice. You mention Short Hills, which I live right next too. Interestingly one of their main roads, Old Short Hills Road, right now is an absolute mess. They dug it up to do some work and never have fixed it. I have been avoiding it ever since because I am sure something bad will happen at some point driving over it.

Ghetto2315...any idea on who bought it (anyone famous) or what part of NJ they live in? I'm sure you can't say, but it's worth asking
