CL65 for $78k? whatcha think I need you opinions

A friend of mine wants to sell his 20k mile 2005 CL65 for $78k to me... he is pretty much upside down ... the car is a rare Ice blue or platinum blue with a light tan interior.....the car is brand new... tires are like new.. he never drove the car fast near its limit period....he bought an extended warranty to 3.5 years from now....so I am debating on the deal... I just bought a CL600 with 12k mile for $49k from a private seller ...an incredible deal ... it has a 3 year warranty attached to it to.... but I must sell this CL600 to get the CL65.... i was wondering by my loyal folks on here if the deal is worth it... $30k more for the 65 or not???

Even at 78, you probably won't make money on it later but who cares!

That sounds like a great deal, especially in those colors.

You name it i've had it or got it...
your cl600 is a 05? mileage? if your cl is a 05 you stole it for that price. if it is a 04 then you got a good deal. the cl65 you would be right on the money...maybe slightly stealing it at that price. i think a lot of it hinges on how happy you are now and what your monetary situation looks like. i personally like that color of the 65 exterior..not a fan of that interior color. give me some more info to work with and i will give you my 2 cents.

The cl600 is an 2003 ... 12k miles

I bought the car with 11,577 miles to be exact... this amounts to 2500 miles a year.... very very low...DISTRONIC, KEYLESS,PARKTRONIC, PHONE, REAR SHADE, NAV, LOADED... and it comes with a 3 year extended to 100k or 2010.... I paid 48,500..... I will sell it for $49,500... I put brand new tires on the car... they were original .... the car also has 20" OZ wheels that came with it.... The car is brand new... now for my friends CL65.. it has DISTRONIC, PARKTRONIC, REAR SHADE, KEYLESS,TRUNK CLOSER, NAV, PHONE.... loaded car too......all service done and mint car.....all paper work on both cars...and the CL65 has the warranty till 2011....

well....with that in consideration...i would go for the cl65. the only catch is getting that much for your cl600. the market is soft as hell on those cars. the mileage and options you have is definitely in your favor. if you can get what you want for the car and you can get the cl65 for that price...i say do it.

go 4 the 65 man, u wont regret it at all. being the owner of a 65, i can tell you its nothing like youve ever driven before, a deal for 78k with 12k miles is not just rare, its unheard of.

The 2003 is pre turbo so just 360bhp, correct? If so, go for the 65.

Munk, if your CL was black I would definitely go ahead and offer you the 49,000 you're asking for. With low mileage and a warranty like that you got one hell of a car.

The same can be said about the 65 though. Sometimes I just wonder if the exterior differences (exhaust) and AMG touch are enough to justify getting the 65. If you chip the 600 it will be just as fast as the 65, so speed is equal to me.

Goodluck with whatever you do. The V12TT Benzes are really something special.

Thanks Italian.......

The very first CL600 I drove in was black... about a year ago.....I wind up getting a E55...The E55 is pewter and really shows the lines in the car....the silver CL600 I have looks more classy then tough... and makes one hell of a sleeper... The other black Cl600 was too expensive and it had way too many swirl marks in the paint.....it was a low mile car though 16k .....I had a black SRT8.... and spent more time cleaning it then driving it.....black is sinister but too much work.....I appreciate your opinion though.. and sometimes i wonder if the $30k justifies the AMG built car over mine....In the end the CL65 is rare and the CL600 is too..... both cars were very limited in numbers ... in the hundreds for production .........I see about as many CL65'S as I do a ENZO on the street.... and about as many CL600's as a F430 ferrari.....

No, your both wrong, for the right reasons. Or perhaps vice-versa. Just as the 55 engine got a supercharger in 2003, the 600 engine got twin-turbos, albeit with a drop in displacement., which means that the 2003 CL600 had 493 HP.
