Do you think this CL55 it is an 04 with 34,000 miles on it Tectite Grey on AMG Charcoal. I believe the original list was $127ish. What do you think it is worth, it is in real good condition too.

Anywhere from $40K to $50K depending on the following. It depends on whether it is still under warranty or not (i.e. when it was first "placed into service"). That fact in and of itself can make the car worth $10K more than one that is already "non-warrant able". The reasons are obvious benefits. If still under MFG warranty, then you can have Benz check everything nout before mfg warranty expiration. Additionally, ALL after market extended warranties REQUIRE that the vehicle STILL be under MFG's warranty BEFORE they will write an extended policy on it. Additionally, if it is a "lemon buy Back" or any type of Salvage or non-"clean" title (all the above apply), then it is practically JUNK (i.e. 50% of the above values) as there is NO way you can get an extended policy on those EVEN IF they are still under the mfg warranty.

So your buying it directly off a Mercedes lot? This would HAVE to be the case for the CPO warranty to remain in effect, right? I don't think Mercedes allows a CPO to be transferred. Maybe I am wrong?

no they can transfer, warranties stay with the car not the owner. unless it is an aftermarket like after 50k or 100k miles

Who told you they can transfer a Benz CPO? The "non-Benz" dealer?

2005 E55, 2004 E55(sold), 2001 Viper GTS, 2006 Viper VOI9, 1994 ZR-1 Corvette 2009 Viper ACR,
If its a certified car, its worth North of $50k. But not a whole lot.. Id say low-mid $50's, depending on color and overall condition... But hes right, without the warranty. figure mid $40's-$50k.. This is assuming a non(or minor) paintwork car, with clean title and carfax.

If it's from a Benz dealer, it's a new CPO, not a transfer of a prior CPO. That's fine and you are set. You can pay whatever your comfortable with but keep in mind that prices on these have come WAY down since the newer body style. If you can get it off the lot under $50K, your probably doing well. There are just SO many used cars you can get for that price level now-a-days but the CL55 is still one of my favorites.

PS - I had one of the old body style 740iL's (1997) and it LITERALLY dropped $10K in value when the newer body style came out. I had bought it CPO'd (cheap, $50K equiv in today's $s) and drove it through 100K and sold it in 2003 for $16K... Expect to do a little better with the AMG but it will still be only worth about $25K in two years.
