CL63 leads convoy through snow covered mountain pass
A Black CL63 recently lead a convoy through a snow covered mountain pass to rescue a pack of stranded Subaru’s.
As reported by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Neshoba Valley (BMDNV) newsletter, ieb was quoted as saying, “That AMG front bumper is the best damn snowplow I ever seen.”
Actually, driving around Boston really sucks now. The car handles OK. I just leave it in C mode with ESP on, and no heroics. Also, I don’t drive it on the day of storms and maybe next day. Why risk it, you can’t do much to protect yourself from the SUV’s.

CA winter entails periodic rain storms.....here, during wet weather, one just needs to swerve around various rolled-over SUVs...the SUVs w/tints, aftermkt wheels and loud exhaust are always the most amusing....
Seems like many of the more "flashy" rolled-over SUVs are driven by large people who multi-task on their phone (surely an important business call) while eating/drinking (staying obese is a full-time job) as they commute to their high-powered job in retail (busy time of yr wrapping gifts at the mall)....Darwinian selection on many levels....
I guess that’s why at least for me changing the basic character of the car with a lot of silly cosmetic modifications is not my cup of tea.
See a few interesting cars in my daily commute incl one or two 599s and several CL63 030s, but IMO, no car on planet today is as, at once, intimidating, yet casually elegant, as a blk/blk or silver/blk factory-spec-only CL63 030.....even w/the patina of daily use.....and esp seen on road all lit-up w/headlts on, exhaust music playing and a brisk, but responsible driver who's prob busy on Btooth and late to a mtg....defines "presence" w/o the so-mockable "trying too hard" stuff....
Easily the world's highest-tech and safest car today but it's such an enjoyable, addictive driver's car that one wants to drive it 365d/yr, no matter weather....

Other places that I would like to live in no particular order:
New York
Montrose
Bel-Air
Monte Carlo
Hong Kong
The new CL has state of the art driving and safety systems and is totally different and much more stable from previous gens. I drove two 560 SEC’s during the 80’s and until the current model came out thought that the 560 SEC was the finest MB ever built. I looked at 215’s several times and always walked away.
I ended up with a 645 that I really loved but when the new CL came out immediately switched to that. I tried a M6 but hated the transmission and the roof does not open.
That brings us to winter driving. Last year I drove a CL550 all winter with 19” summer Continentals with no problem. Granted, I drive only 15 miles a day in suburbs west of Boston and not in Brooklyn, so don’t judge anything on what I say.
As far as seeing other CL 63’s around town, I haven’t seen one although I think that the car certainly fits the profile here and almost seems like it was designed with places like Boston and New York in mind.
Herb Chambers is a major dealer in high end cars around here and in last Sunday’s Boston Globe advertised that they had 6 CL 63’s for sale. That seems like a lot.

I might have seen your CL63 at Newbury St. in front of the Taj or at the Four Seasons hotel lobby - is that yours?
That wasn't me. Best chance to see it is in front of 9 Park. Barbara's fantastic!
).....arguably only cities in world which offer such ergonomics are SF, BevHills, Chic and (perhaps) Bos....Manhattan and London are decidedly 3rd World in terms of daily transportation/logistics, even for plutocrats.....
Interesting pattern of CL63s often seen parked in front of leading restaurants/hotels.....In both SF and BevHills, often see CL63s of regulars parked in front of certain restaurants and hotels, esp on wknts when aspirational tourists from Podunk/exurbs stay away....
