Looking at a CL65

I am looking at a CL65 at Luxury Motors. It has approx 30,000 miles for $68,000. It is one owner in black. Is this a good price, or is the bottom stil falling out on these vehicles. I am in the Chicagoland area, and I am open to suggestions. Anyone know of a good deal on one of these or maybe a SL65? Thank you, Rodbuster.

It is a 2005. It has parktronic, 6 disc cd changer in trunk, power trunk closer and moon roof with alicantra roof liner. I was kind of partial to a SL65, but I really haven't found much in my area at a reasonable price.

Your worst nightmare...
Sounds good, but I were you I would wait until end of Jan or Feb. Wouldn't you want something in the low 20's as mileage. Just a suggestion. But if you like it, hey go for it!!!, How about the Warranty? Is it CPO?

I would only purchase a cpo CL 65 from a MB dealer so that I can purchase the MB factory extended warranty.

As far as price, same year, model, mileage for the same price on the lot at Simmonson in Santa Monica CA.

The price may bottom another $5k in the 1st quarter of 08. Just my .02 worth.

Wait for a few more months, you will see a real drop in the 600/65 prices.

I believe the warrenty is good until Oct 2008. The way I read the carfax, it was a lease turn in (maybe a 3 year lease?). There is no CPO as the dealership that has it is not a Mercedes dealer. It seems as though the prices are lower at this time of the year, but the selection is not as large.

Thank you m berman, I think I found that car on the Simmonson website. It is listed as as a 36,562 mile (per the pic of the odometer) silver car for $69,991? Do you know if this price includes the extended cpo warrenty? You wouldn't happen to have a contact person there by any chance?

Your gonna pay lots more for an SL, mostly because it hasn't been outdated (yet) by a new model. These things are still dropping, especially around the chicago area. Might be because the weather for 4-6 months is AMG-unfriendly. If you can now, go for it. These are awesome cars, but, as you hear from everybody, CPO is a must.

I just found another CL65 at Exotic motors. It is a 2005 with about 33,500 miles for $65,900. It is black also (must be a popular color). I talked to the salesman there, and he told me that if I wanted a SL65 that i should wait another month. He said he is expecting a good size drop in the near future. I can't believe the depreciation on these things. I wonder when it will kind of level off?

The current SL65s will take a further hit when the 09 SL with facelifted front end comes out this coming summer.

I don't think it will ever level off. They will keep depreciating quickly. Mercedes has had all kinds of quality control issues and the fact remains that these cars are very very expensive to repair. If the car was ultra dependable and the repairs were cheap, the depreciation curve would not be so steep. Most Mercedes owners do not want Ferrari maintenance and costs when their car needs service.

The 65 models are much more money guzzlers than they are gas guzzlers

I think the saleman name is Carlos or Robert. He a latino with a stubby build. They are motivated to move the car since it has been sitting their a while. Try $65K. I'll bet they will accept it as an alternative to going to wholesale.
