Well that sux. He seems to feel the car pulls better reading his posts just after the ECU upgrade. Maybe the software made his car slower because I find it hard to believe even a modified M6, which is not a light car by the way, can take a stock 65. We are talking way more torque and horse power. Something just doesn't add up unless the M6 had nitrous.

What I don't understand is why people never do a before/after dyno. You're spending a lot of money modifying your expensive car and you don't even want to spend an additional 100-200 dollars to see if the upgrade was even worth it? C'mon people...

I think he did try to dyno but couldn't find one....

Fast cars in general....
Evotech CL65 vs Evosport M6 runs-2nd Round!!
We had total of 5 runs last night. And the results proved that the evotech was right about the CL was fuel starving in the 1st round match. When I improve my launching technique and change out the worn tires to hoosier R6, I'm sure the result will be very different. Enjoy the video~

1st run: 40-160mph roll, both cars in 2nd gear. M6 jumped first and the CL was spinning bad. In fact this was the worst run of the night for the CL.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOXEMm9r6Fg

2nd run: 20-165mph roll, both cars in 1st gear. Both cars took off at the same time but again the CL was fighting for traction.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5BAlfXSrIg

3rd run: 50-150mph roll, both cars in 2nd gear. Both cars took off at the same same time and CL hooked up better than the 1st run (still had wheel spin).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzXbw7aTebE

4th run: 15-130mph roll, both cars in 1st gear. IMO, this was the best run of the night, Although M6 jumped slightly first the CL hooked up well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVtjsdWUneA

After the run my friend finally showed the respect to CL On the way home, the freeway was unusually empty so we had one last blast from around 70mph. I couldn't capture this run on the video but the CL was pulling about 1 car length in every 10mph. By the time we were at 150mph, I had about 8-10 car lengths.

I will report again when the car gets dynoed.

Have fun & safe weekend and GO GIANTS!!!!

Believe me I wanted dyno the car more than anyone here. I contacted 5 different places for 2 weeks but either they are damn too busy or don't feel comfortable dynoing the car. However, I finally got a hold of one place and we set one for coming Tues.

Hence the 2nd round.~ what do you think? Does your stock 65 pull stock M6 about the same or more?

I disagree with you as in the '2nd round' video did prove that 65 was fuel starving in the 1st round run.

Evotech saw the video and they pointed out that mine wasn't pulling all the way because of the empty gas tank. When the tank is empty and ecu detects a less fuel flow engine pulls the timing hence the less power as speed increases. So, we've decided to have 2nd round with M6 or may be perhaps with a stock CLS55 (his other car). We will run again tomorrow night and this time, we will go from about 40mph. Stay tuned

And I finally set up an appointment for the dyno on Tuesday. Only downside is that it is a mustang dyno so the results will be about 10% less than that of the dynojet numbers. what # should I expect from mustang? any ideas?
Not calling anybody out but I have an M6 with similar mods to the above and I dont see the 476 hp ... That IMO for those mods seems high but it may be a car from hell or it was done on a favorable dyno. I am in the Irvine area, PM me - we maybe we can roll down to Mexico and see what my car can do. I would like some perspective although I have 20's and an exhaust which may have taken some juice away from the M6.

Congrats! Imagine how bad the CL65 would kill the M6 if you had some stickier tires

Larry look up Keith Ta on the M6 board, he rolled with a Z06 and pulled away at the end. He was heavily modded though and the Z06 is stock but the 800lbs weight difference does mean a lot. The M6 in these vids (post here) is not as heavily modded. I do believe a Z06 is quite the match for a CL65.

i would have never guessed less than 1/4 tank would make THAT much of a difference!!!

makes me wonder...when i ran my 600 at the track i had 1/8 of tank of gas (halfway in the yellow)....wonder if it would make a difference if i ran with 3/8 of a tank gas????

anyone with a 600 know anything about this...is gas tank level just related to the 65's?

thanks,
john

jay...how much gas to you put in the tank at the dragstrip?

I am glad car is running well, but I suggest you datalog and dyno car, make sure AFR is proper and timing is correct as well.

Awesome videos. Hard to tell how many lengths you were actually ahead. My car would always pull immediately ahead and i would be only 2 to 3 cars ahead before traffic always made us slow down. Fastest I got during one of these races was 140 mph and I was about 3 cars ahead. M's are no slouch cars but the torque is so weak I don't find driving them much fun after being use to the 65. Great kills by the way. Can't wait to see what the dyno shows since your car has been ECU'd.

Holy Crap. What the hell did he do to that M6 to make it so fast. I can't believe he killed the Z06 like that. I'm pretty sure a stock Z06 would take my car so I'm positive that M6 would roast me. Makes me want an M6 now. How is that M6 from a stand still? How much to upgrade an M6 to that level (HP). I'm definitely interested as the M's handle amazing and they are dropping in price like crazy also.

IMO, that M6 vs Z06 video is a fluke. Either the Z06's driver did not know what he was doing or his car was not working properly. If the Z06 was driven/running to its fullest potential, there is no way this outcome would happen unless M6 was spraying.

The M cars in general are harder to launch than the AMG's... they shine from rolls and higher speeds. There are a few success stories (launchwise) but much less than that of its AMG counterparts. He has (Keith), from his write-up, some extensive costing mods but remember its not so easy get the hp or tq adds on an M car like it is with the 55k or 65 engine. Consider it about the same as modding a 63. In his case he spent a pretty penny on the entire exhaust system (Supersprint is very expensive) but one can do the filter, pulley, and software for reasonable numbers. I spent around 2k for filters, scoops, pulley, and software thru Powerchip. Its like the guy in the Z06 said, top speed 7 speed... its about the gearing and keeping the car in the sweet spot.

On any given Sunday right (anything can win) ... just like today The Z06 was stock and just some simple mods would have yielded a different result IMO but it is what it is and Keith is a well respected member of several boards and believe that race at that time to be real. I love that a 3900 lb luxo GT even can be held in the same breath performance wise (with mods) as the revered sports car Z06 ...

Question And What About...

How do you guys think a race would turn out between this ECU'd CL65 and modded M6 against a lightly modded (chip and pulley upgrade) all-new Corvette ZR-1, an ECU'd all-new R35 GT-R, an ECU'd all-new Audi RS6, a Continental GT with a few choice mods (750 HP is supposedly not hard to get), a Gallardo with ECU/Intake/Exhaust upgrades, a 997TT with ECU/exhaust upgrade, and an ECU'd and pulleyed all-new Cadillac CTS-V sedan?

All would be very interesting races for sure...

From what i recall that Zo6 had not been brokin in yet/new owner to the car?
M6 had 20k + in mods if I recall to, but results were cool .....hes been trying to sell his M6 or maybe sold it not to long after that vid was posted also

Also from my experience viewing reading about these things, results can differ vastly and not all info is shared where u get a video showing results which do not make sence at all.

i know because i come from the gulf and well i see these races alot and sometimes the out come is strange..

Take for example a few weeks back F430 vs M5 at light, the F car is sat there reving away....M5 pulles on F430 n continues to do so,i fell about laughing.
Does it mean the M5 is faster hell no! but anything can happen in a race

Not been in:
  • right gear
  • have right fuel
  • have right tires/traction
  • have sport mode on
  • car not broken in/ recived unlocking power flash (some cars have it)
  • not been afraid to go up to high speeds with out easing off
  • AIT too high, or any other equipment on the car not working right
  • Bad mods (make car worse, or the same)
  • elivation & altitued (forced induction vs naturly asprated)
  • Out side temps
etc

All play a factor

to gripforce-cl65 please post up your dyno numbers and air/fuel when you have gotten them done and remeber to put the car in dyno mode for it

I have always had at least 5 gallons of fuel in the car during any of my track runs. I did not know about these cars and their potential fuel starvation issues but I can see how this could happen with any car that pulls high g's on takeoff.

You know thats a tough one, without looking at datalogs i would have to theorize. The IC pump has shown to be an intermittent problem, its possible that he may have a bad pump and its not working consistently, as well its also possible that he has air in the IC circuit which can also make the power inconsistent. I have personally had issues with both, when I purchased my car it was delivered a bad pump, sometimes it felt blazingly fast and sometime its felt sluggish. Theres a check valve on the back of both intercooler cores that you can easily check to see if coolant is flowing correctly. My car made 492rwhp upon delivery, with a IC pump change to a new stock pump i made 520rwhp.

when i got my car it too had a bad i/c pump...it had been so bad, for so long, the tech at the dealership said it burned all the coolant out of the lower system.

are the check valves hard to find?

also...my right rear tire wheel hops bad...any suggestion on what to check? about to take the car in for normal service and was going to have them check it.

thanks for your help!
