Evotech CL65 (540whp) vs Viper SRT10 (478whp) Video

Another real road test on a closed road. The viper is a 05 model modded with bolt ons, ecu tuning and 3.55 gear. I was driving the viper and I had my friend drive the CL. Although he is already used to his CLS55 torque but he still had hard time getting used to 65 torque. Enjoy~

1. Evotech CL65 AMG(540whp) vs Viper SRT10 (478whp) 40-150mph roll on. Both in 2nd gear and both cars hooked up well (FYI, Viper is very strong in 2nd gear at 40) As you can see from the video, when the viper shifts into 5th then the CL slowly passes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlx0x4iXdHU

2. Evotech CL65 AMG (540whp) vs Viper SRT10 (478whp) 20-160mph roll on. Both in 1st gear. CL had no traction as he comments on the video but was able to catch up as speed increases. Again, as soon as Viper puts in 5th, the CL reels in the viper. No doubt the CL would've passed the viper at over 160mph.

wow,

make sure you bring both those cars to the 3/22 event at Fonatna

www.alternativemotoring.com

You wont have as much time to reel the viper in on the drag strip :-)

Yeap, we (my friend and I) are going to be there for a sure. I'll probably take the viper and he will bring his M6 to Fontana.

I took the CL to the strip a month ago when it was bone stock. 12.2@116 is the best run to date with the traction on. I will bring the car to the June 11th event at Fontana when she gets the R comp tires. I'll be very happy if she can do low 11's.

What would cause the missing 80-100wtq? What wtq # I should be expecting from Ecu tuning?

i think with 91 octane you should be in the 690-715 range at the wheels, why its not making that power in my opinion is in the load limits, when "tuned" these cars pick up a decent bit of HP but a ton of TQ, its the TQ that gets our 4500+lbs moving in a hurry

I thought it was closer to 490whp with a 19% DT loss which would be around 604 hp? Who knows

590wtq was kinda hard to believe when I saw the data log from Vadim. The dyno operator also believed that something didn't look right as he dynoed a few modded 65 had highest torque # in between 2000-3000rpm. My highest highest torque was at 3700rpm just when the car was floored on the dyno machine at 3700rpm. The dyno shop thinks we could've gotten the different torque # if we'd have put the gear in 4th and floored at around 2000rpm. He did offer me free re-dyno test as he thinks the car should have about 680wtq. I will report again when this happens.

Thanks for looking out for me bro. Also I would love to know how you've managed install the nitrous on your CL600. Your car must be insanely fast

That's what I thought at one time, but no he is all natural, lol ...no nitrous there. He ran 10.9 all motor...His 600 is a beast!!!

He did have an Ice reservoir, but that's pretty much it.

the viper has a steep 5th gear (.75) and with the shorter rearend on this car going into 5th happened sooner. (however, better accelleration is achieved - yes)

if the race continued and the viper had to shift to 6th (180ish) its speed would actually decrease... 6th is good for about 155 both in the gen2 and gen3 vipers...

judging by the race a gen4 viper (600hp) would be prolly ahead at any speed...

the cl65 is one fast boat...

You ask for it and you got it!!!
Video of my 478whp Viper vs stock (I think) C6 Z06 on the same road. It's no CL65 vs C6 Z06 but it will give you a perspective. The video was captured on the same night I did the Viper vs C6 LS3 A6. The Z06 saw us racing down the street and joined us for a few runs. I didn't get to talk to the guy much but the car seemed and sounded stock. We both had passengers and started in 2nd gear. My Z06 is scheduled to deliver in April and the real world road test will be continued. Stock Z06 vs modded Viper vs evotech CL65 vs evosport M6 vs CLS55(stock for now, but will be getting the VRP570 soon) and more to come. Stay tuned~
