0-60 - CL55 AMG - is it 4.4 secs or 4.8 secs?
Guys - I've read lots of different reports on performance stats for the CL55 AMG (late 2002 facelift model with 500bhp). Has anyone got an idea of whether it's meant to be 4.4 secs 0-60 or 4.8 secs?? Thanks !

Realistically, it's as good as you can pull off. I've heard 4.2, 4.4, 4.8 but in reality, it's all in the launching... in the driver. Is it capable of 4.2? Sure, with the right launching techniques. Magazines just usually give you a broad spectrum of times which the car is capable of achieving in optimal conditions.

Motor Trend tested the CL55 at 0-60 in 4.27 and 12.38 @114.45 1/4 mile. This car was also "de-limited" to 187mph.

I think MB is very conservative with their "official" performance times.

Completely depends on traction, which depends on weather, surface, tires and driver skill not to smoke your tires. After I changed out my tires with wider 305s (yes I still need to put up some new pictures) the car hooks up much better on a regular basis and I am sure my 0-60 time has gone down, but even still I would say the biggest factor is driver skill in getting the launch just right. All off those numbers listed above are possible.
