CL65 (W215): Good daily driver w/ kids?

I was curious if any of you are using your CL65 as a daily driver and for shuttling around kids? Obviously a 4-door is more convenient, but the CL65 is a such a bad *** car and especially at today's current prices. I currently have a 2004 E55 and was originally looking to purchase a CLK55 as a second car, but now am considering selling the E55 and buying a 05 or 06 CL65 as my only car.

However, how much of a pain is it to move the seat forward every day to let my two young kids (6 & 9 years old) in and out? Will this daily use make the power motor mechanism fail sooner?

Do you guys think this would be a big mistake and I would realize it each time I have my kid's jump in the back?

Finally, are the CL65's just as problematic as the CL55 in regards to electronic gremlins, ABC failures and etc? My brother had a 2003 CL55 and it was at the dealer numerous times for electrical issues. Thanks for the help

Personally, yeah I would hate to wait for those seats every time. Also, for such a large car the rear seat is actually quite small. Maybe check out a used S65 from the same year? Same car essentially, but with 4 doors.

Yes, I agree the back seats are tight.. I keep both the front seats all the way back and they almost touch the back seat. The seat does take a while to move forward but still fast for an electric seat.

If the kids are in the 4-8 range, it may work out and you would still have a few years of use until another familly car could be aquired. Hard to get a big S , when the CL`s look soooo bad A_ _ ..

It's entirely possible. My CL500 was the family vehicle for 2 years and I use it for family duty sometimes even after we aquired the R350. Granted my kids are young and are still in car seats, but it works.

I have a 4 year old daughter and it isn't a big deal to wait for the seat to slide forward automatically. She jumps right in and climbs up into the seat. It isn't a big deal...at least for me...

To the guys who put their kids in the back seat, do you do this daily?

I am the designated chauffeur every morning and evening for my two kids. I would definitely prefer the CL65 versus the S65 because the S looks too boring and the CL65 looks a lot slicker.

Is it possible to leave the front passenger seat adjusted all the way forward and seatback tilted forward so they can squeeze in without touching the seat in the first place?

I have daily chauffeur duty too and have found that the CL65 is not practical for me particularly given the carefully orchestrated car-pool lane at my daughter's school. As a result, I am selling the CL65 and will likely move to an E63 for my new daily driver.

i think that will be quite dangerous ... the adjusted passenger seat will block your side mirror and also the seat will be pulled back when you brake the car abruptly...

in short... it's preferable u go for CLS or E ...

Use mine as a daily driver. Have a 3 year old and a 5 month old. Child seats are the law in our area.

The child seat for the 5 mo. old (rear facing) is a P.I.T.A. When the cradle is in place the front seats will not go far enough back for the driver or preferably the passenger to get comfortable. Cant wait for her to grow into the front facing child seat.

For the three year old there is no issue. He jumps up and I strap him into the his car child seat. The back of the front seats get a little dirty from his shoes but this would happen in any car. It would be a royal P.I.T.A to take his shoes off every time you put him in the car.
