Barolo...your CL look awesome. I wouldn't consider the new CLK63. I saw it in person and wasn't impressed with it as much as the CL63. Good luck with the sale though.

That white CL63 is exactly what I initially wanted and set up just as I wanted it as well, right down to the rotors and rims.
But, I'm an impatient guy and really like that black as well, got it with the additional AMG package so I took that right from the lot. Black works better in NYC as well.

63 has just-adequate tq for SF/LA's high-speed urban fwys; prob good tq for NYC region's notably slower fwys
Had '07 997TT, '07 SL65, '07 599 just before getting my first CL63 030....IMO, no other car comes close to CL63 030 in terms of overall perf/precision/safety/daily-useability/comfort in CA mtn twisties (and routine daily urban commuting)...will shortly see if '09 CL65 offers similar enjoyment (my 65 is on boat for early Oct deliv)...and look forward to driving SL65Blk (in late '08) in mtn twisties to see if it can supplant CL63 030/65....have my doubts about SL65Blk's brake pedal feel; elder-tech sport seats; and poor ground clearance vs mtn twisties (not a smooth, dry, flat track)

Indeed, would argue CL63 030 is in a different league from any <$100K car...

CL63 030 Blk/Blk
Glowrider:
You made one of the best decisions of your life.
I’ve owned my CL63 030 Blk/Blk for a year and have never enjoyed a car like this! Last week I was at the Four Seasons in Boston and the door man refused to take any money and parked the car at the front door ahead of the Bentley’s and Ferrari’s. He thought that I was someone, I had to convince him that I was no one special just had a nice car. When I picked up the car he said that it drew more comments than any other car (fingerprints all over it!).
About the performance, The seven speed transmission wants to quickly move up in gears, I think that this may have something to do with gov. fuel efficiency stats. Best way to overcome is manual shift or limit to 5 speed operation by setting the right shift paddle to max 5. I think that when people comment about highway passing performance the issue is that the car may already be in 6 or 7 when it should be in 3 or 4’th gear.
I had Renntech ecu upgrade and acceleration is awesome. Only difference between C and S mode now is softer shifts in C.
I also added CF rear diffuser but to be honest, I think that I’m the only person that knows it’s there so probably a waste of money.
Like deniska, only reason to every trade is if next version differences make a change worthwhile. Enjoy the ride of your life.

ieb: to clarify, 030 is p30 which is the amg performance package, right?
My garage is now with the CL63, S550, Cayenne. I'm thinking of not renewing my lease on the S550. And, of course, my M5 is being flipped in the CL deal - I actually made out well on that, getting more on trade than I owe on paper. Turns out I'm paying very similar money as well, so the only thing I'll be paying are taxes.
I had double knee surgery in April and am finding it quite difficult to get in and out of the M5, so I was looking for something easier on the body, more comfortable in Manhattan, and more lux. I'm tired of the pain getting in and while driving the M5.

I get the car on Monday night/Tuesday morning. She's getting tinted and having the V1 hardwired on Wednesday. I'll try to find some time for pics before the weekend.
Very excited.

I think I could've spent 7k on better wheels - though they are actually pretty hot, definitely much nicer than the standard rims. Still, I would've liked (and still may pick up) some black rims to really black out this broad...

That's part of the AMG Performance package. Also got the black ash wood inside which is the only interior wood package I would get - gorgeous...
Thx

you paid $7K for the perf packagae....
AND DIDNT GET THE AVAILABLE CARBON FIBER?
You missed an opportunity my friend....that would have set your car apart from the zillion black wood cars out there that cant even get the option.
And black/black being one of the most common schemes out there, your dealer could have easily just ran a search for a carbon car and traded for it.
I'm selling my carbon car on ebay and the #1 statement I get from bidders is "I've been looking all over for the carbon interior...".
It would have been well worth the effort, it is a great look and ads much needed contrast to the all black drab interior of the CL63.

I prefer black wood to carbon fiber. That said, the package was included with my car - never requested it - and I'm WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY below list price (think around the lines of I'm not paying significantly more for this car than my M5.). If they weren't basically throwing it in, I would've just gotten aftermarket wheels. I have no need for the performance package.
