03 cl55 amg dead battery & no entry

Edit: I gained access to trunk still cant gain access to cabin.

Hello, new to MB community I have a 2003 MB cl55 AMG and the battery is dead. I attempted to gain entry via driver's door with the mechanical key and the window is binding against the roof line, I also attempted to gain entry through the trunk with the mechanical key and I am not having any luck. I would like to gain access to the battery so that I can remove and charge the battery. This vehicle sits for long periods of time as it only has 13k miles.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean c.

P.s. I tried a search and could not find info I was looking for.

need some tech.

okay I had the battery out and charged for about two hours , put the battery back in and the alarm sounded. I was able to turn alarm off via remote but it did not unlock the door(s). what gives? I think possibly that the battery is not charged enough, so I removed it and put it back on charge. Just for reference this is an OEM battery. Someone please bring the Tech.

I would recommend that you not take the battery out of the car AND close the trunk. When I had my CL I had the same problem. One time I left the lights on at work and it killed the battery. No access to the trunk just as you stated with the key and needed a jump. The Roadside help was able to jump the car through the passenger side floor board where there was a connecting terminal for the battery to the alternator.

If you do plan on taking it out and can keep it garaged, just keep the trunk open. If you do so, removing the battery would be unnecessary. Just keep the trunk open and jump it when needed. Or turn it on once every week or two.

Thanks for your reply. I ended up leaving the car at my SIL's house with the battery removed and on charge. I am returning later this evening to put the battery back in and try getting into the cabin. My main objective here is to gain access to the cabin and then start the vehicle. From what I am gathering from you response , is to jumpstart it from the terminal on the pass side floorboard? Thanks for your help

when I insert the key in the cylinder and turn it unlocks the door , however when i try to open the door the window glass binds against the roofline of the car.

Buy a C-Tek battery float charger and perhaps a new battery also.
It (C-Tek) keeps a constant charge and cycles the charge when ever the amperage drops a bit. It will keep the car fully charged and ready for whenyou are.
They are a standard equipment item when owning an SLR.
The MB STAR SERVICE Service Manual Library also states that C215s may need a battery charge if the car is un-used for greater than 7 days.

Ctek is the way to go keep it on all the time you can also hard wire it to the battery so you just plug in when you need to. I have been doing this same thing ever since I was locked out with a dead battery and the emergency trunk lock with the key also didn't work ( what a useless setup that is ) anyway I had to access with a boost pack at the passenger floor board as well to pop the trunk open with the key. It's pretty easy. The window binding all you have to do is pull a little harder on the door it will open.

Fixed

Well , I got everything working now. After a good charging I reinstalled the battery and the vent valve and was able to get power to the door, the door unlocked , and I was able to fire the engine. Hopefully the charge will hold and everything will be business as usual. This car Belongs to my SIL and has 14k miles. It usually sat in the garage under a cover for most of its life but I gave it a little romping this evening. The car will be for sale soon enough as she does not want to contend with the car anymore and she is a single mom with another vehicle. If interested shoot me a P.M. or keep your eyes open for a Listing. Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

Be sure to replace the (2) batteries in the Smart Key as well. You need (2) CR 2025's for the key itself.
